Please explain your amusement.

Warren is 100% right in her sentiment, but the amusement is in the idea that our Congress is in any way driven by constitutional duty rather than partisan nonsense

Gotcha...thought you were going somewhere else there.

Just in case you were still wondering how stupid Alabama is, Monday all state services are closed in observance of Confederate Memorial Day.

People put little confederate flags on the graves of confederate soldiers. A few years ago a prominent Black lawyer and former state Senator removed the flags in the cemetery with his ancestors so the state made it a illegal to remove the flags. He received death threats and had to have 24/7 protection.

Our sources tell us the president is demanding that Fox Network turn over an hour of their prime time schedule so that he can produce and star in a show consisting mainly of self promotional rants and interviews of right leaning celebrities. It would include performances by those celebrities as well as skits put together by a team of comedy writers led by comedian Roseanne Barr.

Reports are that the president is insisting “Trump’s Power Punch”, his working title, be broadcast as counter programming to Saturday Night Live.

Why would you post that and not link to any kind of a source?

I 100% believed that Trump wanted to host his own comedy show. I also believed the photo attached to the article wasn’t photoshopped. YOU GOT ME

As I noted a few days ago, today in Alabama it's Confederate Memorial Day. All state offices are closed as the state honors the death of traitors, villains, racists, and the stupid who started the Civil War.

In case you're interested in verifiable proof that reparations should be paid, here is a brilliant article from The Montgomery Advertiser in 2017 on how the legacy of slavery continues to this day in state institutions in the south.

Go to your local County Seat and say "I keep hearing that Republicans are the party of Lincoln and the Democrats owned slaves, and as such, I, as a Democrat, would like to take down MY Confederate statue."

This is a great thread by a Disney heiress about income inequality, specifically targeting how Disney does the barely over the bare minimum for it's lowest income employees.

I thought Warren was all but dead in the water thanks to the terrible, terrible optics of the DNA test debacle, but I'll be damned if she isn't knocking it out of the park left and right these days with the way she is clearly and effectively presenting some serious policy proposals. It would be awesome to see this really build to something.

Trump will bring up the DNA testing and call her that dumb name, but I think most people have moved on. I totally forgot about it.

She's great and super smart and very knowledgeable. Maybe the smartest one among all the Democratic candidates running.

Most importantly, to me, is that I think Warren actually wants to pass progressive legislation and administer it. I can't say the same thing about most of the other Dem candidates (e.g., they are either not progressive or they talk a good game, but ultimately don't care whether stuff gets enacted). I admit though, I wonder about electability.

re: CNN's marathon of Town Halls tonight

Bernie has given Trump at least 5 or 6 attack ads so far, and all they need to do is play a 20 second clip from this event.

Today is the anniversary of Richard Nixon’s death so I decided to read Hunter Thompson’s obit of him, again. It’s probably the single greatest obituary of a President ever written. But there is a sentence in there that struck me. I don’t think there are many parallels between Trump and Nixon, but there is at least one

From Thompson:

“Some people will say that words like scum and rotten are wrong for Objective Journalism -- which is true, but they miss the point. It was the built-in blind spots of the Objective rules and dogma that allowed Nixon to slither into the White House in the first place. ”

I am gratified to learn that several free agent Dems I know IRL notice this as well.
