Yeah as far as leading indicators go, Kudlow's denialism is as solid as it gets.

Yeah, I watched him on MTP this morning. Besides offering nothing beyond “everyone be optimistic”, he seemed like he was drunk. Seriously.

EDIT: I didn’t see the earlier post saying this before I posted. My gf and I both thought he was slurring drunk on TV.

Either that or a minor stroke. No joke.

We were saying the same possibility. There was definitely something going on.

Yeah if he wasn't drunk or stoned I would be shocked.

Also how hard would it be for Tuck Chodd to follow up with Larry's 2007 quote about the recession then. What is the point of that show and why does NBC pay him to do it.

He actually led off the interview with Larry’s quote in Dec 2007 saying there was zero chance of a recession. He basically answered, “Yeah, I’ll own that one but this time is different”.

Between their blatant disregard for personal privacy and their inaction against hate groups and Russian bots, not to mention the constant whining and trolling about everything on there, why anyone is still on Facebook is beyond me. It's a horsefeathering wasteland.

for more than a handful of people, it's the best way to keep in contact with family. can't disagree that facebook is mostly horsefeathers but it's a good way for me to view pictures of my nieces and nephews who live out of state and be abreast of what's going on in their lives as much as possible.

Yeah, it is a genuinely useful tool. I'm not under the delusion that they're not run by horsefeathers heads, but hey, we're all Cubs fans, too. It lets me easily keep in touch with family and friends I don't get to see or communicate with nearly as much I would like, and if I dropped it altogether I would effectively be dropping a lot of those people, too.

Yea, I've just cut back a ton. Took it off my home screen. Disabled notifications. I often go days without checking it now, which is great, and I can still get the important updates I want to see when I login. But I probably won't get rid of it altogether.

I get all that, but I can say that I am much more at ease these days not scrolling through Facebook every day and honestly do not miss it at all. For family pics I browse Instagram. Twitter has much the same issues as FB, but rightly or wrongly what makes it more palatable for me is that it's easier to avoid the comments section and just click on articles.

I mean, Instagram is really only an aesthetic alternative, and certainly not a moral/ethical/political one.

i find twitter to be much, much worse than facebook. at least on facebook, i can hide most people that i don't want clogging up my news feed. on twitter, i'm forced to read retweets from horsefeathers i could care less about (unless there's a option to turn retweets off that i haven't seen).

Very true, but if I am to keep up with family and friends who live far away, pictures are far less offensive to me on IG. Plus, I really can't overstate how unbearable the whining and lynch mob mentality is for me on FB (PSA, Aziz Ansari has a great bit on this in his new stand-up on Netflix). It gets bad here sometimes, but this place is much more enjoyable and far more informed by comparison.

I'm not sure if the right play for me here is to give this gif a like, or point out how ironic it is.
