Were one of them (or both) involved in that awful idea of a show about what happened if slavery never ended/The South won that got all that backlash (rightfully so)?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought was the brainchild of some GoT idiots.

You’re right. IMDB says neither of the creators is currently working on anything, fwiw

I will never, however, get over how dumb the whole "Joe and his hilariously huge scars and their mysterious backstory" nonsense was. That stuff was almost enough to singlehandedly torpedo the whole thing

Basically everything related to Joe in season 1 was ridiculous.

Yup; pretty much only saved by how interesting Lee Pace is to look at/listen to. And as much as I love Toby Huss on the show...

Same.

I don't have a DVR (basic cable is provided with my HOA and I stream so damn much). If you guys would do me a solid and keep just talking about good shows to watch it would be appreciated. (I mean I guess that's what is already going on just urging people to give recommendations - Sofa put me on to Rectify and I absolutely loved it).

Black Mirror

I watched several episodes of the first season but I didn't really love it. Are future seasons better? I gather I can just pick up any random episode with any season as they are all independent?

None of the absolute best episodes are in the first season, but they aren't functionally different either. If you gave it 3 episodes and it wasn't for you, it won't get much better. None of the episodes rely on each other though, so if you see a plot description that sounds interesting, you can watch piecemeal.

Thanks Brian and TT. If I run out of material I'll scour through the descriptions and see what sounds good. If anyone has any one (or more) episodes of Black Mirror that they absolutely love then feel free to suggest.

Now that I think about it let's just re-name this thread "Help Weis find TV shows/episodes to watch"

Playtest Season 3 episode 2

White Christmas season 2 episode 4( Jon Hamm episode and my favorite of the series)

If you are into 80s nostalgia: San Junipero. Season 3 episode 4

USS Mccalister Season 4 episode 1

It doesn't matter what order you watch this show in aside from Black Museum which is final episode of season 4 as it has callbacks to earlier episodes.

Just binge watched all of Dirk Gently earlier this week. Supremely odd, pretty fun, and surprisingly violent. Sad to see it got cancelled.

Also just started bingeing Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and that I'm digging a lot.

Yeah, I'm watching the interview right now. It's really good, and a nice palette cleanser after the last couple of days/months/years.

If the problem is that Black Mirror is too dark and depressing, USS Callister is a lot lighter, with bits of comedy throughout.

GF and I watched the first 2 episodes of season 1 when season 4 got released because of all the hype. It was just a little too weird for both of us.

This is where I was, too. I just couldn't get behind it. But, since it's unique in that every episode is a brand new ordeal I am planning on taking a look at some of the above listed episodes because if it were a little less weird I can see how it could be a very cool thing. Basically, I don't know but will report back when I do watch some of them.

Also, thanks again for the feedback, all. It's appreciated.

An update on the Amazon adaptation of The Boys by Garth Ennis...

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will be directing the pilot of The Boys for Amazon, and while Erin Moriarty (Captain Fantastic) was cast as Starlight a few months back, here are some new additions:

Antony Starr (American Gothic) is Homelander
Dominique McElligott (Moon) is Queen Maeve
Jessie T. Usher (Independence Day: Resurgence) is A-Train
Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl) is The Deep
Nathan Mitchell (Supernatural) is Black Noir
