Yeah, and with the former two (and a show like
30 Rock), I prefer it when shows (especially sitcoms) lean into a whole, "YEAH, THIS A THEME SONG" thing. Like, don't try to shoehorn in an actual pop song (I'm looking at you
Friends,
Community,
The New Girl, horsefeathering BBT,
Scrubs,
Malcolm in the Middle, etc.).
Exceptions for
Cheers, because it horsefeathering rules, and any theme song from a 70's or 60's show where they were very helpfully/cheesily explaining what the show was all about. NOBODY HAD TO GUESS WHAT
MR. ED WAS ABOUT, DAMMIT.
