Random thought: is Justified the show with the widest gulf between how good it is, and how horsefeathering brutally awful its opening theme song is?

the wire theme isn't very nice to listen to 3 out of the 5 seasons

I don't remember which ones but I definitely remember some of them not being good.

The Steve Earle version was the only one I wasn't a fan of. After that, season 3's version by The Neville Brothers was more boring than anything else.

It always makes me a little sad when people say they don't like the Tom Waits' original from season 2.

Yep...but as much as I enjoyed the show as it went on though, I don't think it's good enough to be in contention for this.

The Bosch theme song grew tiresome after about 3 episodes. Mainly because I binged watched it and it got stuck in my head (typing this out makes it obvious that’s true of most songs that piss people off).

Anyway, it partly could also be because I don’t know how good Bosch actually is but I enjoy watching it and I’m unsure if I should be at least a little disappointed in myself.

That's much, much harder. There's just too many if you're allowing all of tv. Too many good ones.

EDIT: Cheers is probably #1 of all time, imo.

The Sopranos' song choice is arguably as instantly dated and terrible as Justified's, yet for some reason it still works awesomely, IMO.

I didn't give it all that much of a chance, but I don't think the show is all that great, so no.

For that specific situation, the run-away winner is Firefly. Lapped the field.

This is the worst take in the history of the board. Rmack just got bumped down to spots 2-13 on the list.

I stand by it, and always will, until I don't.

With Justified, the problem is that Amazon Prime doens't have a damn "skip intro" option like Netflix, and their FF controls are as godawful as the rest of their platform design.

Hell, if they just removed the terrible hillbilly rapping and left the music it would be infinitely more serviceable.

The Office, P&R, and Unbreakably Kimmy Schmidt are all ones that I'd never skip the intro song on cuz they were so damn catchy. It helps that they were short too.

Yeah, and with the former two (and a show like 30 Rock), I prefer it when shows (especially sitcoms) lean into a whole, "YEAH, THIS A THEME SONG" thing. Like, don't try to shoehorn in an actual pop song (I'm looking at you Friends, Community, The New Girl, horsefeathering BBT, Scrubs, Malcolm in the Middle, etc.).

Exceptions for Cheers, because it horsefeathering rules, and any theme song from a 70's or 60's show where they were very helpfully/cheesily explaining what the show was all about. NOBODY HAD TO GUESS WHAT MR. ED WAS ABOUT, DAMMIT.

They list Orange Is The New Black as a great TV show. Their list is invalid.

They do with some shows, The Expanse for sure. Although maybe that depends on platform you use it over.

I had to tune in to every episode of The Brady Bunch because I did not completely understand the premise from their overly vague theme song.

Slightly related, MASH theme song is ingrained in my head because I'd get to watch Letterman on Friday nights (had to have been early in the CBS show) and then when that was over it went right into reruns of MASH and that theme song meant I had to go to bed. Add to that it's already a depressing song, and then years later finding out there are lyrics and they are "suicide is painless".

Even the not-so-great shows in the 70s and 80s had instumental theme songs that completely blow the roof off most anything around presently. Quincy, Rockford Files, MacGyver, Barney Miller, Magnum PI, even horsefeathers ALF.

Yeah, that's a piece of art...off topic there are a few other videos from the Infomercial series that I think might even be better. "Unedited Footage of a Bear" comes to mind.
