Well yeah, but he was playing a WR in Maguire, so it worked for that. OJ always had an intimidating stature that Gooding doesn't have.

Sammy Sofa wrote:Yup. And it's not just a physical thing; he' not intimidating enough, he's not charming enough...he's not OJ enough, dammit. Though, hell, I have no idea who I would cast as OJ.

How about Blair Underwood? Idris Elba?

I knew general stuff about the evidence (i.e. a glove was found, bloody footprints, DNA when people were still sort of skeptical of DNA, etc.) but not just how clearly damning it was. I'd never really gone back and looked into the details of the case against him. I remember as a kid we all cheered in school when he got acquitted, lol. As I got a little older I just realized he was guilty as hell from the general stuff that was out there but I hadn't really gone back to look at/read about all of it. I just knew there was damning evidence against him and that the LAPD screwed a bunch of stuff up and he should've been found guilty.

EDIT - I also actually had no idea OJ went to the wake and all that happened. Holy [expletive] [expletive]. I just figured he had been arrested already or something. Or, at least, if I did know, I had forgotten. I googled some pictures from it and it sort of sparked my memory.

My whole takeaway is less the details of the crime and more, "wait, of course we were all obsessed with this; it's so horsefeathering BIZARRE."

Blair Underwood is a great call. Idris Elba is almost TOO serious; I can't see him being as likable as OJ seemed.

I haven't watched the show yet, but Travolta is almost my sole reason for being interested.

Which is perfect, because if I ever think about Kardashian that's how I picture him due to his reaction in the courtroom during the verdict: his mouth is open just slowly looking around in disbelief.

I was in like 4th or 5th grade, and I was a big 'he's innocent' person, when we would have discussions about it in school. I'm not sure if it was just a he's a sports guy he couldn't have done it, or if I was just doing it as a bit or something. I did buy the book he wrote with letters people sent to him.

Looks like Captain Sobel finding out Major Horton could not have ordered him to cut down the fence that allowed the cows to escape, because Major Horton was in London at the time.

Oh thank god. NSBB clearly had a problem finding appropriate Simpsons screenshots prior to this.

Elvin from Cosby Show Donovan McNabb/Tiger Woods from Sunny then. Anyone but Cuba Gooding Jr.

Re-watching it, I think the biggest problem with Cuba isn't a physical thing so much as he sounds nothing like OJ.

Gooding, especially when he's yelling, is really high-pitched and shrill. He sounds little. OJ looked and sounded like a big dude. I think Blair Underwood is the best suggestion so far.
