Trump won a majority of white women, but he did not win a majority of women.

Right, and imb's point is that the only way there's going to some kind of voting women reckoning is those white women voters don't inexplicably again vote again for a party like his. Most of the other women voting knew better already and didn't vote Republican.

Tall order.

Even if women vote in the same proportions, a small increase in their overall turnout makes a big difference.

Yes, and that applies either way. Too many white people have been voting against their better interests for way too long, and I don't see that changing too much when one party is putting out the, "BE AFRAID, WHITE PEOPLE; BE VERY AFRAID," welcome mat for them. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Most white people are bad at voting.

I feel like the me too movement is more likely to inspire women to run for office who wouldn't have before than inspire non voters to vote

Then it's worked. 50% of Democratic House and Senate nominees in races that had no incumbents are women. That's a record by a wide margin.

Having more women run for office will inspire more non voting women to vote.

This could go in the journalism thread too, afaic. Knowing who is making decisions about what merits airtime/column inches is of utmost importance. The internalized misogyny/racism/homophobia driving such decisions need to be exposed.

There were other allegations against Ellison that would fit right in line with this type of horsefeathers, for whatever it's worth. I believe there was some spirited discussion/disagreement in the politics thread around the time of the DNC elections.

Dooon't care.

On the Ellison note, most of the stuff was about supposed anti-semetic beliefs, but there were some talk about some basically mysoginstic views from his law school days as well.

Uh, yeah, the reality of far, far too many white women voting Republican isn't changing because of this.

i mean, i just assumed those were people who were supporters of kavanaugh? what proof do we have that they're upset at what he did and not upset at what he's "being subjected to."
