I mean, it couldn't POSSIBLY be because it's about a beloved band or anything. No, it MUST be because of the rare and precious creative genius behind such bold masterpieces as Jack the Giant Slayer and Valkyrie and X-Men: Apocalypse and Superman Returns and Apt Pupil.

Bohemian Rhapsody was a safe, paint-by-numbers biopic, and that's all it needed to be because of how huge Queen is to pop culture. My dead grandfather could've directed it from the grave and it'd still make $800 million. The fact that it was nothing more than that proves Bryan Singer sucks.

I've always viewed Singer as a standard competent director - generally he's not going to screw anything up but I don't think he elevates the quality of his movies. The only movie he has directed that I have really enjoyed is the Usual Suspects - which isn't too difficult to attribute to the script and the performances.

I agree BR is an "okay" movie - I am surprised it has been nominated as much as it has - and I agree much of the enjoyment was due simply to Queen being the subject matter.

Don't know anything about Singer's private life so I can't comment.

Just know that he has been one of those guys in Hollywood where everyone knew and nobody did anything, like Spacey and Weinstein. He's scum of the Earth vile. When it comes to his talent and work, he's the Dusty Baker of directors.

Damnit. I didn't know he did Usual Suspects, also.

That was one of my favorite movies of all time and Spacey already ruined me being able to enjoy it.

Yeah, he's another one of those "open secret" dicks; this horsefeathers has been reported on/rumor/blind itemed for damn near 20 years now. The talk is that he ran in circles of other big name people into the same sort of stuff, and has gotten away with it so relatively boldly because he effectively knows where the bodies are buried and can name a LOT of names. Who the horsefeathers even knows anymore; everything is terrible.

Separating the art from the artist has been a difficult thing to do. L.A. Confidential is my favorite movie of all time. In the end, one person can not make me hate a movie that has influenced me so much, especially not when there are other tremendous talents at work to make that entire picture shine.

It’s not his private life.

If you know enough about him to have a view about his career, you’d have to actively choose to avoid the rape stories.

Watching people on the Left scrambling to dismiss this is horsefeathering awful. She's apparently been telling people this for years; it's not something that just suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

There are horsefeathers human beings on both sides of the aisle.

It's fun/horsefeathering infuriating watching Republicans decide to draw the line in the sand exactly where this differs from Kavanugh, and then put me in the position of having to like, defend this guy.

Conservative friend: He should resign
Me: I agree, also Kavanaugh
CF: This is different, this has corroborated facts.
Me: Which facts are those?
CF: That Fairfax admitted that there was a sexual encounter.
Me: So which 'corroborated facts' disqualify him for serving public office?
CF: Actually he shouldn't resign, democrats should stop this superiority complex.

horsefeathers you pencil dick. I responded to a post about Bohemian Rhapsody - commenting on the movie and previous Singer movies that I am familiar with. I am not familiar his personal life; I have seen a few headlines but I would not be moronic enough to judge someone or comment on someone - or pretend I know someone - based on headlines of stories that I have not read. I am typing slowly now so maybe so will understand - I HAVE NOT READ ANY ARTICLES ON SINGERS PRIVATE LIFE - I HAVE NO DESIRE TO. It HOLDS NO INTEREST FOR ME - I have in no way defended Singer so I am not really sure what the issue is here.
