Someone just got fired

Postby OleMissCub » Sat Jan 13, 2018 6:40 pm

Hawaii went into a momentary panic due to this.

Yeah that's a really colossal horsefeathers up. Every citizen in the state of Hawaii probably was freaking out and rightfully so. That had to been scary as hell for them.

So... how does that happen? It's not a computer glitch or sensor gone bad that track for missiles?

Like there's actually a person who look over this stuff and then would send a mass emergency text? Then finally get corrected ~30 mins after?

Gen McCaffery, who by coincidence is in Hawaii, was just on CNN awhile ago. He described it as a similar alert to a storm warning, but that he was struck by how no one seemed to panic or even be bothered much by it.

Hawaii is a very beautiful place but very overrated country that needs to get better technology to communicate with its people- Trump probably not realizing Hawaii is part of the US

What's worse: that the false alarm went out, or that it DIDN'T go to everyone's cell phone?

Well, Obama's (fake, but actually real) birth certificate says he was born in Hawaii, Hawaii is full of liberals, and Trump would approve of the Nazis bombing Pearl Harbor (because there's no way Trump thinks Japan bombed Pearl Harbor), so I'm guessing he'd think of Hawaii about the same way he thinks of Puerto Rico.

But had it been real and a ton of people were never warned....also bad.

Summary: all bad

What were they gonna do with a warning, hide under their desks?

I mean, there's a reason they would send one out in the first place.

My favorite comment was "what should they do if this was not a false alarm?"

The Washington Post reports that the worker sent out a false warning after choosing “Missile alert” from the dropdown menu that initiated the internal test. He should have chosen the “Test missile alert” option instead.

Sure seems like that needs some extra authentication rather than a dropdown menu!
