It's the "fat white working class family" version of fancy.

Speaking of food factories...does the Spaghetti Factory still exist?

The Cheesecake Factory actually has some decent food, but their insane portion sizes and hideous decor keep me away most of the time

I went to one in Redondo Beach that was open air seating and overlooks the ocean. There's one in Norfolk, Va that is borderline classy or at least not hideous.

I'm not sure why I've been to more than one Cheesecake Factory. My daughter likes it.

Cheesecake Factory is great. And for you people who complain about portion sizes, split with your spouse/partner. Same with dessert.

I have the same issue, but their menu is so extensive that surely you can find something you and someone else can agree on.

I honestly had no clue that the Cheesecake Factory serves food other than dessert-type stuff. Huh.

If you watched Happy Endings(and if not, get on it), it's basically the Pangaea concept that Dave pitches in one episode. The menu needs a table of contents, it's as cluttered and wide ranging as the decor.

The menu is basically War & Peace. A million options, and ludicrously large portion sizes. The first time I went to one was about 20 years ago. My wife and I went on a date to the location that's under the Hancock Building, and we had no idea what we were getting into. She ordered a basic chicken breast and mashed potatoes dish, and I crap you not, there were four full-sized chicken breasts on her plate (and about a 1/2 gallon of potatoes).

I generally don’t trust places with large menus. No way they can be good at making so many items. The fewer items a place has on their menu, the better it is. If a place is still in business and only has like 8 entrees, then it’s a safe bet that those entrees are pretty badass.

cheesecake factory isn’t the worst thing in the world if there is nothing else around and you feel like a 3 hour dinner

Counterpoint: the best diners usually have books for menus, and you can pretty much pick anything from it and it's gonna be awesome.

My mom makes some weird green jello salad thing straight out of a 60's/70's cookbook. It looks horsefeathering terrible, but a lot of people seem to like it. I can't bring myself to even try it. Jello, cottage cheese, walnuts and some other horsefeathers.

My grandmother used to make that. She called it "Watergate salad"

My mom made on that was jell-o, cool whip, strawberries and pretzels. I could eat that all day
