The only [expletive] dairy product that should ever show its horsefeathering face on top of read meat is gorgonzola.

Though I did love stopping at the Mars Cheese Castle. And my favorite pies in the world are from the Norske Nook, so I guess WI does do some things OK.

norske nook has some crazy good pies. i could probably eat an entire sour cream raspberry pie and feel zero self loathing

cheese curds are best when they're very fresh and un-fried; the "squeakers" as they say. they can be good fried, but like a light fry with a thin, crispy breading and just enough to goo the cheese but not liquify

Ahhhh the Nooke. So many tins from that place adorn my cupboard. On my home, between MPLS and FIBville.

I could go crazy on this post. Bearnaise and hollandaise just to start with the core.

Sean was asking about street fries in the previous fat people thread. The food truck I referenced is back on the street:

And I've yet to try this, but this apparently has replaced Skrine Chops on Financial, and has good reviews.

I just had a server at Sonic roll out to me on roller skates. Thought that was just a trope from movies set in the 50's. First time I've ever seen anyone do that.

Question: can Five Guys technically be considered "fast food"? I appreciate that they make my burger fresh but every time I've been there I've had to wait at least 12 minutes for my delicious bag of grease and flavor.

I've never come close to 12 minutes there, unless you count the line I stood in line the one time I went at work.

As far as dairy products on top of red meat, gorgonzola is usually the only acceptable answer, but a bit of garlic butter here or there can really put a steak over the top

I don't count five guys as fast food, nor do I count it as a sit down kind of place. Fastish food I guess?

Yea and it's a segment that's basically taking over the industry.

That and "pick your toppings" type places. Between Chipotle, Piada and Bibibop you have three major food types covered

None of these places are near me!

I am sure that "America's best Philly" is found at an Iowa/Missouri/Nebraska/Kansas regional chain.

David Chang has a chicken sandwich in the east village for 10 bucks that's almost as good as a chickfila and its going to take over the world.

1. The beef in those states is really good.
2. Have you ever had a Philly in Philadelphia? Awful. NYC (and everywhere else for that matter) took a good idea and made it way better. Best Philly I ever had was in NYC from a street vendor.

Piada = Pasta Bowl version of Chipotle
Bibibop = Asian fusion version of Chipotle

https://mypiada.com
http://www.bibibop.com

ETA: Piada is in several states, but Bibibop is local to Columbus

I've never had a Philly cheesesteak. I'd like to. I've never been to Philadelphia. Heard great things about the city. Heard it's like a Boston that isn't tiny and doesn't suck.

I checked out the menu for piada. I could see myself enjoying a Peach Bellini in the courtyard of a huge Dublin OH mall.

the cows are there but Midwesterners don't know how to cook it and they know nothing of spices and flavor.

That's because we're too busy using those delicious cows for decadent barbecue and deleterious hamburgers.

Oh and actual steaks too. I love a good bone-in ribeye.

Another "pick your toppings" place I've heard of is blaze pizza. Personal size pizza they roll the fresh dough out for you at the beginning and hand you a wood stove cooked pizza at the end with whatever you want done between the two. Never had it, just told about by my sister.
