There are no undecided senators. There are only senators who believe they benefit politically from appearing undecided or possibly being allowed to vote against if the outcome is not in doubt

Although even that doesn't help during the lame duck period...

Collins and Murkowski I'd buy on.

After that... MAYBE Romney if he wants to play the "principled conservative guy" role, but I'd say hell do that only if it's 50-50 and he knows Pence will break it.

I don't see who else.

Corey Gardner maybe

Figured he might throw a last minute Hail Mary to save his seat. But ya that’s not happening

Yep this. Underscore for letting Collins or the like be SUPER concerned until November 3.

If they save their seat, they have 6 more years and pass through a lame duck. If they lose anyways, they have nothing to lose and pass through a lame duck.

It's happening.

It would only hurt him. His base is Colorado Springs, and literally all they care about is ending abortion.

The ONE positive from this is there is a non zero chance some Dems decide to pretend to have a horsefeathering spine.

Here's the pledge.

If Republicans push through a nominee, pack the horsefeathering courts.

If Republicans don't push through a nominee, pack the horsefeathering courts a little more lightly.

I hope so.

But I'm not holding my breath. They love bringing a knife to a nuclear weapons fight.

Given the growing urban/rural divide, there’s a very good chance Democrats don’t ever have control of the Senate again

Earlier today this Nate Silver guy told me it's more likely than not they control the Senate in 2021.

I don't wanna be that guy, but any chance we can merge this into the Politics thread?

I loved RBG and am incredibly worried about the future of our country. I didn't sleep at all last night. And when I come onto NSBB to distract myself, it is really stressful to look in Active Topics and be reminded of how horsefeathers things are. It'd be a lot easier to avoid the politics thread than to keep reading this thread title over and over. I'd consider it a personal favor to whomever would be willing to merge it.

McConnell knew the fix was in for 2016, hence he blocked Obama nomination. He knows Trump will lose in 2020 and why he will push thru whatever right wing nutjob judge Trump chooses. I realize I am stating the obvious.

Shocker Lindsay Graham is all for voting on a Trump nominee

Of course there are multiple examples of him in the past stating that in this exact same scenario (opening in the final year of Trumps first term) he will wait until after Inauguration Day
