Plus it's basically just a move to placate the worst kinds of fans (see also too much of The Rise of Skywalker).

The first one is a guilty pleasure for me...and I hit play on this feeling pretty skeptical, but it could be fun...

The original is a great horsefeathering movie and I will fight anyone to the death who says otherwise.

Its a pretty good movie, but its only my second-favorite "movie to watch in October with Fairuza Balk in it."

If you haven't seen Return to Oz, I suggest you do so. Bonus points if you have kids around to give nightmare fuel to. Imagine Labyrnth, but more victorian and immeasurably more terrifying.

FYI: I didn't know until fairly recently that Princess Mombi = Queen Bavmorda from Willow.

Randomly read recently that Christopher Lee did The Wicker Man for free (so did most of the cast), promoted the movie out of pocket, considered it one of the greatest films ever made, considered Lord Summerisle his best and most favorite role, and called the film in general "brilliant"...He also said this was despite not being able to really edit the film(??), which would have made it "ten times as good" It's widely considered one the greatest British films ever, especially by the Brits, who knew?

So I threw it and Midsommar, the only peer I can think of, on this weekend and wow do they both hold up would even say the latter is even better during a rewatch. The music in The Wicker Man is just great and adds to this surreal, creepy atmosphere (the first song, "The Landlord's Daughter", is sung in front of both landlord and daughter who are pretty into it) that builds into probably one of the handful best horror movie endings ever. Midsommar is just a loaded movie that I think does a better job exploring grief, family, how family helps build identity, confidence, fosters growth more than most yarns out there...Also big fan of how the actor playing the douchebag boyfriend in Midsommar hung dong in a humiliating scene specifically because women usually have to do the humiliating nude scene in a horror movie

Also I'm Thinking of Ending Things is horsefeathers dark, I liked it...Nice juxtaposition between Midsommar, in which the lead literally travels across the world to unexpectedly find a family, and the ending for the lead/s in this one

Lee as Lord Summerisle:

Stop horsefeathering letting Mel Gibson do anything besides getting closer to death.

Yeah, it looks like a fun movie, but I really don't wanna give money to anything he's involved with.

I'm sure I'll watch it on some streaming service someday because I love me some Walton Goggins. But otherwise I'd pass.

Watched Dead Silence because it's that time of the year and it remains a gd gem. The opening sequence between lead guy and his wife is an insane intro to the evil bad doll, the twist makes rewatching fun because there's a giveaway immediately without making the movie less fun, and the horror works. I love horror set in or around small towns, especially if there's a loaded spooooky history, and this movie does that whole part great with especially elaborate sets while *also* working in a murder mystery complete with a detective with a favorite suspect. Secretly it's James Wan's best or at least most complete movie and Mary Shaw is one of handful legitimately great horror ghouls

Mary Shaw:

So the rumor going around right now is that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are going to be in MCU Spider-Man 3. Initial reaction is I'm here for the craziness. I'm not sure why multi-verse Peter Parkers aren't going to look the same, but maybe it's more of Spider-Verse situation where they aren't actually going to play Peter Parker but a different character that got bit and became Spider-Man, or maybe not even playing Peter Parker or Spider-Man and it's just fun cameos.

I'm going to give Marvel Studios the benefit of the doubt that it will be fun.

To expand on that, Jamie Foxx is confirmed as returning as Electro. There's some talk that they'll have each of the Spidermen be fighting a baddie from their own movies. Which hopefully means we'll see Defoe or Molina back.

Doctor Strange is also going to be in it, which will no doubt be part of the multiverse shenanigans. WandaVision is likely to contribute to that as well.

There's also a rumor that they've cast Miles Morales for it.
