Frustrated with the current state of DVD/Blu-ray digital copies and buying movies from online stores like Vudu or iTunes? A new connection between studios and stores may be the best fix we'll get, now that Fox, Sony Pictures, Universal and Warner Bros (but not Paramount and Lionsgate, so far) have linked their libraries to Disney's Movies Anywhere setup.

Linking the accounts is relatively painless, and for a limited time, viewers can unlock access to five free movies (Big Hero 6, Ghostbusters (2016), Ice Age Jason Bourne (2016), The Lego Movie) by doing so.

EDIT: There's an issue linking the Moviesanywhere account with Vudu, this morning. Being worked on.

Well, crap. I chucked any non-UV Disney streaming codes long ago because I didn't want to deal with their platform and figured it would always be exclusive to their movies.

You can import anything you had on Disney Movies Anywhere, Amazon, Vudu, Google Play or Itunes.

EDIT: oh, now I see what you're saying. DMA really wasn't a bad platform, imo.

I was just lazy and assumed it was Disney's version of a whole iTunes-style platform/marketplace instead of something more Vudu-like. Mainly I'm just annoyed because I tossed out the codes for the last 2 SW flicks once I realized they didn't work with the UV platforms at the time.

My biggest annoyance so far with this new platform is that it doesn't currently support 4k, but I imagine that will come.

I had forgotten how bad the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie was. Thanks, blu ray.

I realize that this is a self inflicted wound but my 8 year old loved it so I felt like I had to buy it for him.

Yiiiiiiikes part II.

I'd be curious to see this because I think the movie was a trainwreck it sounds like the stuff behind the scenes were an even bigger trainwreck, but I feel bad that Carrey, then and now, clearly looks at this as this very personal project he just knocked out of the park, and, IMO, he very much did not. It's a very boring, by the numbers biopic anchored by a performance that comes across more like a somewhat medicated Ace Ventura. It really should have been something structured much more unconventionally, like Adaptation or American Splendor.

Like, if THIS had been the movie (Andy Kaufman biopic ends up sabotaged by horsefeathers star consumed by trying to act like Andy Kaufman at all times, and mostly failing at the former and ending just the former), it could have been something really good.

Interesting...I actually rather enjoyed the movie. Though I find method acting like this to be bizarre and annoying...and I definitely don't think the doc will come across well for Carrey, as it appears that he thinks it will.

Yeah, if the tone of this was, "hot damn, look at this ridiculous freak show," it would make a lot more sense.

Turned the game off last night and watched Tombstone for the 582nd time. Couple of thoughts:

- Paxton is terribly miscast. Even the overacting from some of the other actors fits the tone of the movie, but he's just totally off.

- It's soooo obvious which shots were filmed by the first director, Kevin Jarre, before Cosmatos *cough* Kurt Russell took over as director. The way Jarre's shots are framed are obvious ripoffs of John Ford, which isn't a bad thing. Russell's version is basically an action film disguised as a Western and that's fine, but I'd love to see what Tombstone would have been in an alternate reality where Jarre directed the whole thing. You'd have that terrific dialogue he wrote encompassed within an old Hollywood Western from a visual standpoint.

- I realized for the first time that Virgil's wife was Trixie from Deadwood.

- Stephen Lang is such a good actor.

- I really, really wish that the last scene of the movie was Wyatt and Doc's final scene together in the hospice. The final scene with Wyatt and the lady waltzing in the snow just doesn't fit the tone of the movie at all. It's off-putting. The focal point of the movie is about the bromance between Wyatt and Doc, not a romance.

funny, but that's not it. Romances are fine, but as an audience we aren't too invested in his relationship with her. It's a Doc and Wyatt movie.

I don't know if it belongs here or the TV thread, but Hulu just released a feature-length documentary called Too Funny to Fail that's all about the disaster that was the Dana Carvey Show. It always blows my mind the murder's row of talent they had working on it and how spectacularly and quickly the whole thing blew up. If you just told me now out of the blue a sketch comedy show was coming out with these people working on it:

Dana Carvey
Steve Carell
Stephen Colbert
Robert Smigel
Louis C.K
Charlie Kaufman
Jon Glaser
Dino Stamatopoulos
Spike Feresten
Robert Carlock
Greg Daniels

...I'd assume it was going to be the biggest horsefeathering thing on TV.
