The third act was a little wonky. That's really the only flaw I saw with the film.

I am still equal parts baffled and amused by this movie's existence:

It totally looks/sounds like it should be buried as a Netflix thing (and what the horsefeathers accent is Hardy doing?). Sony's just drunk off of Homecoming hubris.

Yeah, but in that he seemed to be playing some kind of socially awkward, possibly slightly mentally impaired weirdo. I guess the reality is Tom Hardy is in the Benedict Cumberbatch-land of terrible, terrible American accents.

Even if I thought that movie was a good idea, that's a pretty bad teaser.

A Futile And Stupid Gesture is a new biopic on Netflix about the creation of National Lampoon. Pretty funny. Those guys made 3 or 4 of the 10 funniest movies of all time. Raised the bar to pretty unreachable heights.

Variety’s reporting that Joaquin Phoenix is the frontrunner to star as the Clown Prince of Crime in director Todd Phillips’ as-yet-untitled Joker movie which would tell the story of the criminal’s early rise to power and be set outside of the same continuity in which all of DC’s other films take place.

Not really opposed to that casting, but the movie overall just sounds like a terrible idea.

Wait that is Tom Hardy doing the voice over? Too late I cannot unhear Terrence Howard.

He's in the new Ant Man in a couple months. Same with Michelle Pfeiffer.

I love that Paul Bettany looks more like an exec than the actual execs/behind the camera people in that pic. I almost missed him thinking he was some faceless drone I wasn't supposed to know.

Disney streaming service to debut in Fall 2019.

No R-rated movies. R-Rated stuff will go to Hulu. Any current Marvel series stay where they are.

The goal in the first year is to generate four to five original movies, and five TV series for the streaming service.

Here are some of the priority movie projects I heard about:

Don Quixote, from a Billy Ray script; Lady and the Tramp; The Paper Magician; Stargirl, to be directed by Julia Hart; and Togo, to be directed by Ericson Core.

In post-production and bound for the streaming service are the Mark Waters-directed Magic Camp, and the Mark Lawrence-directed Noelle with Anna Kendrick, Bill Hader and Shirley MacLaine.

Priority development projects include 3 Men and a Baby; Sword and the Stone; and Timmy Failure, the latter of which has Spotlight director Tom McCarthy in the creative mix.

On the TV side the inaugural streaming site slate includes High School Musical, an animated Monsters Inc series; a Marvel live-action title, and a Star Wars-branded title.

Actor Reg E. Cathey, who played Freddy on “House of Cards” and appeared in “The Wire,” has died. He was 59 and had reportedly been battling cancer.

Known for his distinctive baritone voice, Reginald Eugene Cathey began acting in 1984 in a television movie called “A Doctor’s Story.” He guest starred on numerous television shows, playing Norman Wilson in seasons four and five of “The Wire” as well as in “Grimm,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “House of Cards,” and drama “Outcast.”
