Written by Matt Lieberman, the story centers on a background character who realizes he’s living in a video game. With the help of an avatar, he tries to prevent the makers of the game from shutting down his world.

Venom is getting some hilariously savage reviews.

And by "some" I mean, "A TON."

In Paddington Bear II, Hugh Grant plays a once famous actor that now has to do dog food commercials to pay the bills.

checked out a preview of first man last night and it is really intense. the first 10 minutes of the movie is a masterclass in tension 101. special effects were great and the score was really good, too (best use of a theremin in a biopic!).

not the biggest ryan gosling fan (he's got the dead-eye blank stare down to a T but, in my opinion, the range of a toothpick) but he was believable as neil armstrong.

spoiler alert: buzz aldrin is in the movie (played by corey stoll) and he doesn't say "careful, they're ruffled!" at any point during the film

BUT

"blue danube" is played in one scene but no one is eating potato chips.

Man I love Gosling. I get what you're saying about range but I tend to look a little more favorably. Place behind the Pines and The Nice Guys are two of my favorites.

I was a bit disappointed with A Star Is Born. It was OK but I guess I had higher expectations.

Was able to catch a preview of Roma tonight at the Museum Of Modern Art. I know this is coming to Netflix soon but if this movie is playing near you, go see it on big screen where you can go the most out of it. It’s stunning visually (shot on 65mm and in black and white) plus the sound mixing is top-notch. The lead actress is not a trained actor (this was her first movie) and should be nominated for lots and lots of awards in a few months.

Cuarón is a really, really, really good director. This might be his best film.

Venom was soooooo bad. Like, I wasn't expecting much, but I had a little hope because of the weird Rotten Tomatoes thing. It reminded me of the Transformers movies, where there were portions of scenes that are actually pretty cool, but it never gets any momentum because most the movie is just straight up embarassing.

Warner Bros. has just confirmed to io9 that James Gunn is in discussions to write, with an eye to direct, the next installment of the Suicide Squad franchise. He’ll have a completely new take on the property.
