Joon-ho Bong, director of The Host (one of my handful favorite movies ever in the history of the world), Okja, and Snowpiercer, made yet another thoughtful hit with Parasite:

Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferugson as the evil bad guy, The Shinning (don’t want to get sued), Stephen King, and Mike Flanagan but this trailer didn’t do it for me

I just re-read the first three "Dark Tower" books, and now the movie is on Showtime, and I have to ask: Did the writers of this movie read more than the paragraph on the back cover of the book? This movie has horsefeathers all to do with the book

Toy Story 4 starts slowly, but is really great in the 2nd and 3rd acts.

So I rewatched Trainwreck because yet another hot comic, Mark Normand, big upped Amy Schumer recently. Comic after comic basically talk about her as if she's an angel, *funny* comics at that (Patrice O'Neal, Colin Quinn, Dave Attel, etc). Anyway, first off, the movie is hilarious and earnest and pleasant and I love it. I saw it for the first time right after my dad died, he also loved standup and prooooobably because I did, so all that I noticed was Colin Quinn's character died. Anyway, more to the point, here are some of the comics and/or comedy writers with a credit and screentime in that film who probably wouldn't without Schumer:

Keith Robinson - Kevin Hart's mentor. Most famous for getting robbed (take a wild guess why) on Star Search in 1993 by some guy who probably wasn't even doing comedy fifteen minutes later:

Marina Franklin
Nikki Glaser
Rachel Feinstein
Colin Quinn - Red State Blue State is like his fourth or fifth amazing hour in a row
Mike Birbiglia
Bobby Kelly
Dave Attel
Jim Florentine
Dan Soder
Dave Hanson
Kyle Dunnigan
Claudia O'Doherty
Kevin Kane

What a boss

I also have found that Death Proof is my favorite Tarantino movie? I would like more Grindhouse outings, please. This is how you treat like a deep and dark depression, right?

I scrolled through and it doesn’t look like we talked about Us, did I miss it? Because I just got to it last night and it’s really good.

Taika Waititi, director of Thor Ragnarok, has been hired by Disney/Fox to make a Flash Gordon movie. Perfect choice.

Me: I just really don't see a way I could be interested in a new Ghostbusters movie.

Me: well horsefeathers.

OMC, if you ever write your autobiography, if the first line isn't, "as far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a grandpa," throw it in the garbage.

The joke is that you're such a grandpa about grandpa movies that you didn't see the glaring warning sign that is "DIRECTED BY ROLAND EMMERICH" from a zillion light years away.

Yes, this is extremely relevant to my interests. Johnson should mean it's a lock to be better than the Murder on the Orient Express remake too.

Speaking of capers on trains, can please we get a Great Train Robbery movie from this century while we're at it?

Just so long as he's learned from The Brothers Bloom. As much as I love his other films, man, few movies have annoyed me as much as that one. I caught the first 20 minutes or so of it the other day after having not seen it for years, and I had to bail.

I feel like that movie is what people who say they can't stand Wes Anderson's movies have going through their heads.

But, hey...people should like what they like.
