The whole site is running really badly, which is not really a great advertisement for AWS.

Everything I try and look at gives me an error. I have no idea what's even available for me not to be able to buy

Best Buy is partnering with Amazon to sell "Fire TV's"...

As part of Best Buy's deal with Amazon, Best Buy will no longer make Insignia televisions with Roku's operating system built-in.

we'll see how the days progress, but I have finally upgraded to a mesh network and so far I am happy with it. my house has a basement (where my fiber comes in) and 2 full floors above so I had been using powerline adapters to get a solid signal to my upstairs Apple TV. we've since added enough other devices that the wireless upstairs kinda sucked. since installing I'm testing at right around 80 mpbs in every room of the house now (I pay for 60)

I'm going to give one last serious try of running cat6 from my basement router to the attic which gets weak wifi as is, but if I fail, I'm moving on to a mesh. What did you go with?

This is really funny, I was about to post HALP on this forum like a day ago because of my dead zones in my 2 bedroom apt and then I googled my issue and bought google fi instead.

Glad to hear you're happy with it - I think my problem was I was using comcast's horsefeathers rental router and it couldn't make it through a double wall to my office. I bought a repeater and horsefeathers those things. Hopefully this works.

I ended up trying google wifi since it was toward the lower end in price with the idea of moving up to velop if I wasn't satisfied. the other I seriously considered was the tp-link deco because it had a lot of really solid reviews, but I grabbed the google 3-pack for $10 cheaper as an open box item

I've been wanting to do this for well over a year now, but I couldn't decide on the model to buy. it was ultimately my powerline adapters getting out of sync somehow that forced my hand

I finally upgraded to a Motorola AC1900 combo, and it was like night and day compared to the crappy Verizon Quantum combo I had before.

I had all kinds of issues using powerline adapters when I was Comcast. My fiber company provided a dual band router with 2.4g and 5g bands and I really haven't needed anything else since then, fortunately. The mesh network stuff sounds really cool...I just haven't had a need to look into it too deeply.

Oh, sweet; I pay for 50 MBPS, and it looks like I'm getting my money's worth and then some:

all of you regular posters in this thread should roll your eyes but i have a very easy (read: stupid) question:

the girlfriend and I both have cable included in what we pay with our mortgage/rent and neither of us watch enough cable (stream mostly) to really necessitate an upgrade to digital cable. well, her father just bought her a new big ass nice TV and it doesn't have an input for the coaxial cable because we are the only ones living under a rock i guess who would do such a thing. at least i think that's the case because it's sixty effing five inches and is on a raised up platform and i can't turn it tonight without a ladder and/or another person to help me hold it in mid-air.

anyway, assuming that is the case, what is my best option to get her tomorrow or order online? i browsed and found some cheap composite ones online but would it make any sense (or make a difference) to find an HDMI version of this same box (assuming there is such a thing). the plan is she is going to move in with me when her lease runs out in a few months but we would both like something to watch football and basic cable in the meantime. at that point we would probably get digital cable so this would more than likely be a temporary thing.

we probably will when we move in together but again we rarely watch cable more than the basic ass cable that is covered with my HOA and her rent. i just want a band aid for now and we will more than likely get digital cable when we move in together. it just makes more sense for right now to do this. also our cable company is terrible (suddenlink - but that's probably redundant regardless) and will surely have fees hidden in there for even a few months.

basically i'm just wondering if an FM modulator is all i need and/or is there something that would be better for approximately the same price. i haven't used an FM modulator since i was hooking up a PS2 or something to a TV without A/V jacks. i'm guessing it works the same in reverse? i'm not well versed in these things so just wanting to make sure it makes sense since i'm an idiot about these things

i also like how i tried to provide long-winded rationale for why i don't just upgrade to digital cable (because that would seem like the thing to do in most situations) just so that sofa could respond simply "upgrade to digital cable"
