On one hand, I’m totally caught off guard by this. On the other hand i know some of these younger white techies and i can completely make the connection. On the ferry one day, one guy was telling me about how whites were superior to Indians because an Indian could draw a pig complete with a pigs nose and floppy ears but they couldn’t figure out that a pig has a curly tail or that its skin should be pink, you know, little things like that. It was “science”. I honestly thought he was drunk and an idiot

Finally ditched cable and trying to figure out which of the digital antennae options are best. Which ones would the rest of you suggest?

Do you mean literal antennae or the streaming TV services? For the latter, I don't have any personal experience, but when I looked into it a couple months ago I was drawn in by Youtube TV. Especially if you can share the subscription(which they encourage), it's the most cost effective way to ensure you get the major sports channels(e.g. both the ESPNs and FS1/FS2s). This site lets you pick the channels and options most important to you and then you can see the options: https://www.suppose.tv/tv

It really depends on what you need. How close are you to the broadcast signals that you need?

Go enter your full address here... https://www.antennaweb.org/Address

Most of my signals are far enough away that I need a roof mounted antenna, but in a major metro area, that may not be as big of a concern. But if you're in a metro area, you may be able to get streaming services with your local channels. I cannot.

It looks like I'm about 15-25 miles away from most of the OTA signals around me, and it's the 'burbs so I guess s standard indoor 35-50 mile radius antennae would do it. I have streaming options, too, but I weirdly still want an option where I can just flip around and see what's on, plus I've grown to like all of those retro channels that seem to be multiplying.

I got one of the big mohu outdoor ones (I think 75 mile range?), and I'm glad I ponied up the extra for it. I never even see so much as a blip when watching live tv, and I have the signal split in the house 3 ways without amplification

At that distance, yeah the antenna probably matters less than the topography and potential obstructions in your way. I've had a cheap indoor GE antenna that I've used with varying success, but come Christmas I'll probably snag something a bit better, or at least one I can put on a window instead of a table.

May I also reccommend Pluto Tv?

Between netflix, over-the-air (I've finally got my over-the-air DVR working), and Pluto I don't miss cable at all.

Hmmm, sounds promising. Especially since the antenna options didn't work too well for me; I'd need to get an outdoor one to pull all the channels I want.

The ads are no worse than cable, probably a little less lengthy (if more repetative) but if you've been away from cable for a long time it can be very annoying. The channels like MSNBC are normally at least a day delayed. I tend to use it for the channel surfing experience, and the MST3K channel and the RiffTracks channel are my go-tos, but there is a lot of random fun stuff at any given time.
