It depends on what you want it for. I have the 55 inch P series of the same vintage and I'm pumped about it. While it does have HDR, it won't handle blacks and greys and some color as much as a cinephile might want. I'm also not sure how well the E series handles lower res stuff than 1080. My P series isn't the greatest at making 720 and below look great, but I might just have to change the settings a little.

No question that the price is pretty good, assuming the refurbish went well.

My cousin has worked for them for years. He's always showing me a video of some weirdass creation when we get together.

https://www.avclub.com/amazon-confirms- ... 1823593392

The Verge reports today that Amazon’s ubiquitous Alexa system has started creepily laughing, unprompted, in people’s homes, which means we should probably just jump to the endpoint here and start blasting the damn things with a shotgun. Reports of the laughter—which sounds a bit like a creepy little kid ghost, as if we weren’t freaked out enough already—have started popping up over the last few weeks from concerned Alexa-enabled device owners, as multiple users have stated they’ve even been disconnecting their devices to get away from the sounds. The “glitch” can apparently occur without the machines being prompted to wake, or—and this is fun—when asking them to turn on the lights, which should be a lot of fun during a bleary 2 a.m. bathroom run.

Alexa and other things like it are so dumb and pointless. Now there’s this. Throw them all in the ocean.

The voice remote on the Fire TV is useful enough, but I've never had much of an interest in the Echo-type products.

Supposedly Amazon couldn't figure out an explanation for the laughs, so that's sort of weird.

eh. i love my echo.

i've had many mornings lately when i wake up at 3 am with something on my mind and i say "alexa play thunderstorms" and it puts on white noise and i'm knocked out after a few mins. i'm listening to spotify from my phone right now by saying "alexa connect to iphone". it's convenient if nothing else.

i'm going to be honest though, my neighbors may or may not think i'm in an abusive relationship with some "never seen or heard from" alexa lady.

me: Alex, stop. (normal volume)

*echo continues whatever the hell she was doing*

me: Alexa, stop! (raised voice)

*Alexa pauses for a second and continues*

me: DAMMIT ALEXA STOPPPPP!

And if this chick starts laughing at me it's getting tossed out the second window. Between the last two of my posts I suppose it's the definition of a love/hate relationship, actually.

https://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/alien ... 1823749096

Remember when we found out the government spent millions of dollars on a program that discovered mysterious inexplicable metal alloys and concluded that aliens were probably real back in a New York Times report from December? If you need a reminder, here’s another UFO intercept video from the Navy.

According to the details of the video, which is reportedly from 2015, the Navy F/A-18 jet was engaged in a right turn while intercepting the unidentified flying object, which was streaking above the water with no visible wings or signs of a combustion engine 4.4 nautical miles away. You can hear the pilots appropriately losing their minds.
