Darth Vader's solo series is coming to an end in August 2016 with Darth Vader #25. The final issue will run 40 pages of story, and concludes the "End of Games" arc that launched with this week's issue.

horsefeathers horsefeathers horsefeathers horsefeathers.

There was terrible news about Darwyn Cooke yesterday:

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce Darwyn is now receiving palliative care following a bout with aggressive cancer. His brother Dennis and I, along with our families appreciate the outpouring of support we have received. We ask for privacy as we go through this very difficult time.

http://io9.gizmodo.com/comics-legend-da ... 1776466194

And it's sounding like he actually passed away last night. What a horsefeathering loss. Way too young, and the guy made some beautiful, amazing comics. New Frontier is one of the best DC stories ever, and his noir adaptations of the Parker books are incredible.

Somehow I've never read New Frontier. I'm gonna have to get on that.

It's easily my favorite thing DC has put out in the last 15 years.

2016 really needs to cool it with the awful, awful deaths.

Comixology is launching a digital subscription service. $5.99 a month, all you can read, but the titles will be rotated in and out like Netflix, rather than a flat library like Marvel Unlimited.

Got through 5 issues of the Old Man Logan plotline since that's rumored to be where the next and last Wolverine movie is headed with the R rating attached to it. I'm unsure how the hell they're gonna pull that one off without just completely ignoring all the storylines presented up to that point and saying "horsefeathers it"...

But it would be pretty cool.

It’s as silly as it sounds. No matter what Marvel Editor Tom Brevoort has told the press today about this being planned since Spencer began writing Sam Wilson: Captain America in 2014, or how this will all make sense if you go back and read 75 years of Captain America comics, this is a gimmick with no shame.

But please, let’s not pretend this is real, or permanent, or won’t be utterly undone in a storyarc or two. After all, Steve Rogers has got more movies to star in soon.

It might be fun in an elseworlds type comic...like Injustice for DC. But in the main continuity, that's a pretty huge retcon.

Right. I'm all for comic books doing goofy, comic book-things, but this just seems more like a huge pain in the ass than anything else with all of the knots the creators and the readers have to twist themselves into trying to make the whole thing work. I mean, as a general idea it's something that could have worked with a whole host of major Marvel characters, but Captain America?

horsefeathers, this kinda would have been a perfect Tony Stark or Reed Richards heel turn.

And speaking of goofy comic book things...Cap's mask just looks weird without those silly-ass wings. Now he just looks like Dildo-Man.

So, Rebirth #1 was surprisingly good. I'm not sure if DC can follow through on the potential moving forward, but this was a solid step in the right direction.

horsefeathers.

Variety is reporting that Steve Dillon, the comic artist best known for co-creating Vertigo’s massively successful Preacher with frequent collaborator Garth Ennis, has died.

Dillon was 54; his death was reported by his younger brother, cartoonist Glyn Dillon, earlier today.

Ha, so these 4 pieces of DC/Looney Tunes art were released...I dunno if it's heralding crossover books or what but I'd have to have them.

I'm going to put this here. My intern (student teachers are called interns now) is doing a lesson today about the invention of comic books during the Great Depression. The students will have to create their own super hero and the story will be them helping to solve one of the problems caused by the economy (Dust storms, homelessness, etc.) Evidently, Superman cleaned out a bunch of Hoovervilles so they could build apartments for the homeless in one of the early comics. I thought you guys would appreciate this.
