I don't own a dog but my dream breed is a standard sized poodle or a German pudelpointer:

I don't have pictures, but a huge wind storm hit San Diego last night and knocked down 100 feet of fence overnight. The neighbor and I spent the better part of the morning clearing out the mess to make room for a new one to be put up. In the meantime, the dogs had double the size yard as normal, and they sure took advantage of it. It was better than Christmas for them this am. Happy dogs!
Oh, and Derwood's picture above this post looks exactly like one of my yellow labs. At least the part you can see.

It's like 25 outside and my dog is laying in the yard like it's 75. She's furry but not that furry. And she refuses to come in. I don't know if she's happy or just stupid.
That said, she's the best. My 18 month old goes up to give her a kiss on the snout and she licks him so hard she knocks him down and he cracks up laughing.

Just an average guy with exceptional hair. No more, no less.

Re: Dogs Are Awesome, Yay Dogs!
Anyone else have a dog who is terrified of chirping smoke detectors? Holy horsefeathers; one of those things starts off and she is a mess. If you open the door she just bolts all the way to the top of the pipestem and will just stare at the house and refuse to come back until it's off.
When my parents go on trips she's going to have to go stay with whoever is watching her because we're honestly worried she'd have a breakdown or a hear attack if that started and she couldn't get outside.

is that a Goldendoodle? My wife, who has always loved dogs but has never been that into the idea of having one, has become obsessed with the idea of getting a Goldendoodle lately.

It sure looks like one. My buddy has one around the same age...friendly as hell, but thinks it's a small dog, and it most definitely is not.

Yes, you are correct. He's considered a mini goldendoodle. But he's on the large size of mini (40lb). My wife had shih tzus growing up and I had a German Shepard so this was our compromise. They are great dogs. Intelligent like a poodle but still goofy and playful like a golden retriever.

Doodles, labra or golden, are the best. Our dog is a labradoodle and my old roommate/cousin has a goldendoodle and they're the nicest damn dogs in the world.

They're very, very nice, but a bit goofy and high-energy. My parents have one, and when she gets excited, she loses her mind. My neighbors across the street also have one, and that dog wants to be friends with everyone, but bounces down the street like a pinball to meet people. I think over-exuberant is probably the best way to describe the goldendoodles I've met. Exceptionally friendly, but with virtually no chill.

This is mostly true. He's chill with my wife and I (loves to sleep and cuddle, sleeps in until we are both awake), but anyone new and he's hyper/excited for about an hour. And he will occasionally bark when he's excited. I wish I had half his energy.

Man, if I wanted a chill dog I would have just settled for a cat.

Haha. There's nothing better than coming home to your dog going complete ape horsefeathers with excitement from not seeing you all day.
