Derwood wrote:So a rabbit in my yard broke my dog's brain:
I let the dog out earlier, and she saw a family of rabbits on the other side of the fence, and started going nuts. Wanted to chase them but couldn't, and she stood out in the pouring rain for 15 minutes, not wanting to come inside. Couldn't lure her with food (which always works) or words that always catch her attention ("eat', "walk").
I finally get her in, dry her off, and she's right back at the door, whining and going nuts. I ignore her for a long time, until it's done raining, then decide to let her out again. As soon as I open the door, I see that one of the rabbits is now INSIDE the fence, and the dog takes off after it. It's ten seconds of two blurs zipping around my yard, until finally the rabbit gets outside of the fence. The dog is then beside herself, whining at the fence. She is (for the first time that we've had her) in full on hunting dog mode, and she can't turn it off.
I finally just got her to come inside (after over 30 minutes of her insanely sniffing around the ground, the fence, etc., trying to find this rabbit), and now she's right back at the door again, wanting to go back out.
tl;dr, I hope the dog can actually chill out and sleep or else it's going to be a long night

put the dog on a leash and take it for a walk.
