shunning aside, I have to figure out how to curb this dog's constant need to chew/destroy things. She acts like we never feed her, even though we lean towards the high end of the recommended daily amount. I was hoping it was a teething thing, but all her adult teeth are in now, and its bad as ever. She mostly just chews up and destroys her toys, but if you take your eye off her for five minutes, she'll tear apart people's shoes, she'll try gnawing on the couch, I even caught her trying to start chewing on my daughter's laptop. She's a menace

Interactive toys (Kong Wobbler), frozen toys, and more exercise (not walking, Fetch, look into buying/making a flirt pole).

I've made more time for her to just blow off steam, running full speed around the back yard. Do you think it's a boredom thing?

If teething is done then I would say it is a boredom thing. I would definitely look into make a flirt pole and watch videos on how to use it for training and exercise. The other thing is to keep a steady stream of things you want your dog to chew on coming.

Ahh.. Boston Terrier are known to chew anything in sight. Most of it is due to anxiety because they're away from you for so long, but you put the puppy in a crate while you're gone right? So like Liam said, it's a boredom thing and trying to get your attention if they're only doing it when you're there.

Yeah, sadly she is in her crate for 8 hours a day while we are away.

Did you try the heavy duty Kong toys? By the time she was 3-4 months old, our German Shepherd was annihilating any of the softer toys we got. We started buying the Kong ones and those would lasted a few months at least. By the time we actually had to throw a couple away because they were coming apart, she had pretty much stopped destroying toys.

We never had a problem with her chewing up random stuff other than the sheet we put over her crate at night though.

If she goes after specific things, there's always bitter spray (just test on an inconspicuous spot first). But if she's just going after everything you can't exactly douse all your belongings in it.

Outside of that you have to limit opportunity. Shoes don't get let out. Take pillows off the couch for a while... hopefully it breaks and you can return to normalcy.

We've limited the damage for the most part, the one downside, though, is that you just can't leave her unattended for any amount of time. If I'm home alone and need to take a shower, I need to crate her, because in the 15 minutes that I'm not watching her, she can get into all sorts of trouble.

My 5-month old just started noticing our dog and now is absolutely infatuated with him. Baby just laughs and smiles at the dog all the time and it's so incredibly cute.

California has banned pet stores from selling cats, dogs and rabbits unless they work with shelters or rescue groups to supply the animals.

Gov. Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 485 into law Friday, The Orange County Register reported. It takes effect in January 2019, and pet store owners who violate it will face a $500 fine.

i always hoped my baby and my dog would get along. i didn't anticipate the baby already liking the dog more than me at just 6 months old.
