so it it took 2:10 minutes to sink

Pretty wild. What happened was the bulkhead compartments that were doing a decent job of containing the water finally gave way. Then when the dome of the grand staircase broke open it caused an enormous amount of water to pour into the ship.

One striking thing about that video that the previous one didn't do very well was showing how calm the water was. It was an almost universal statement among the officers and sailors who testified to Congress that they had never seen the ocean so calm. It apparently looked like glass and was perfectly reflective.

I actually got a "special thanks" credit on an episode of a true crime show called "Murder Comes to Town" because they didn't end up using any of my interview footage. This was a pretty wild story and never made national headlines because a different school shooting happened in Kansas or something in the same week as the arrests were made in this case:

Dan Carlin has a new Hard Core History Addendum podcast out. It's about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis. He paints a terrifying picture (like he always does). It's very good. 1hour

Pretty cool from a historical perspective that there is video footage of a future POTUS being rescued by a submarine at sea after being shot down.
