153 years ago today, a professor from Maine and his 120 men (out of 300 to start the day) may have saved the Union army from destruction.

Best scene in any Civil War movie imo (extra props for having a skinny Donal Logue)

There is a 2 part special series about DB Cooper on the History Channel tonight. The first episode came out last night but I didn't get a chance to watch it, however, they are showing both eps back to back tonight. Lots of buzz that they really do have the guy. The research team for the production included 36 specialists, most of whom are former FBI agents, so this doesn't appear to be some Brad Metzler's "Decoded" type of crap.

edit: Well that was a total bust.

Yeah the first episode really gets you amped up but unfortunately it doesn't deliver. The second episode is definitely worth watching though. They are able to get the first interview ever with Tina Mucklow, who was the flight attendant that spent roughly five hours with him. She hasn't spoken about it since it happened until now.

I was really hoping for something big with this documentary because the last time History Channel did one of these type docs they revealed that the Anglin brothers DID survive their escape from Alcatraz and ended up living out their days in Brazil.

They didn't prove horsefeathers. All of this stuff is only slightly more legit than their Bigfoot hunts and ancient aliens.

Whatever, I think the photograph was highly, highly compelling evidence, especially considering that it came from the family of the escapees and isn't just a random photo that someone found.

It's as tenuously circumstantial as you can possibly get, and basically amounts to little more than "here's a photo of two dudes." The horsefeathers quality makes it impossible to do any kind of legit physical comparison. Odds are they're shark chum.

I didn't see what you guys are talking about, but if that photo is the best evidence, that's awful.

So you've got two guys that look ridiculously like the Anglin brothers, who are basically the same age as the Anglin brothers would have been at the time the photo was taken, taken in Brazil, and it was in the possession of the Anglin family.

To lean toward it not being them requires you to believe in coincidences upon coincidences upon coincidences.

If it was a photo of just one person who looked remarkably similar to an Anglin brother, that'd be one thing. However, a picture of TWO men who BOTH look remarkably like the Anglin brothers is pretty damn interesting.

Oh ffs, it's very likely the same people. Look at the hairlines and headshapes.

That photo was definitely enough for the FBI to bump up their interest in a case that they long thought was closed.

Gooney, I get that you are arguing for the sake of arguing (unless you are stupid or blind), but I'll play along a little more. The guy in the photo even has a unique forehead protrusion that John Anglin was known to have.

Yeah, there's nothing there that makes me think "ooooh, that's gotta be the same people". Maybe, maybe not. Certainly not evidence.

Well whatever, back to DB Cooper, the FBI just a month ago or so decided to close the case. They stated that basically the only thing that would make them investigate a lead is someone showing up with more of the money or with the parachute.

horsefeathers that. Psychic samurai warrior-DB Cooper is all the fun. More believable, too:
