I tried "observing" a game and all I saw was a chat window with people hurling racist epithets at each other

The How to Play doesn't really well capture the mechanics, but here's a video that gives the general gist of gameplay:

If you've played Mafia/werewolf or similar games, it's a lot like that where a lot of the benefit is in the discussions about the action that has taken place. So played online you'd have to have a really active chat.

The Show's rtts GM AI is silly. And so is their player decline stats. Its got Trout as a AAA player at 33 years old. Bryant was a 74 rated AAA player at 31... But Gallo at 31 is rated 96. Bregman is a 99 at 31. Schwarber is still an 87 rated LF'er at 33. Players retire because of a poor free agent market when the year before they were MVP and cy young candidates. Felix Hernandez retired with a 3.32 era, over 3000 K's and 240+ wins and didn't make the HOF but David price and his 3.10 era and less than 3000 ks and 210 wins made it in the same year.

I don't understand this game sometimes... Sure is fun though.

I'm up to the 2024 season, my first after signing a 340M dollar deal with the Cubs. Over the seasons, the AI GM has gutted a lot of the team, with Rizzo going to Texas (though he's now on the bench) and Bryant putting up god numbers in Arizona. Most of the pitching staff has turned over as well, so though it's cool to finally be on the Cubs, it's certainly a different team (and I don't know how many of these younger guys are real prospect vs. computer generated randoms)

C - Caratini
1B - Ronald Guzman
2B - Baez
3B - Ryan McMahon
SS - Russell
LF - ME
CF - Almora
RF - Hunter Renfroe

Bench:
C - Plawecki
1B - Christian Walker
3B - Jeimer
SS - Jose Feliz
LF - Schwarber
RF - William Benson

SP - Francis Martes
SP - Shelby Miller
SP - Rob Dent
SP - Lewis Aldrich
SP - Eric Pellow

My cubs team, which i had to ignore offers and try out in spring training for, in 2025 is currently:

Ss Russell (93)
Cf Andrew Toles (87) (better than Bryant and Trout, lol)
Rf Me (99)
3b Bergman (99)
C Contreras (92) (he's an absolute beast)
1b Kenny Vargas (83)

Then a bunch of randoms on the 70's.

Rizzo currently toiling away in AAA on the New Orleans Baby Cakes. I think Bryant is teamless. Baez an 86 rated platoon player on the Yankees at 32. But hey, Ji-Man Choi blossomed into a 30hr hitter in his age 31 season when Bryant was struggling to stick on the i-cubs at the same age.

That's weird on Bryant, as he's been MVP caliber in my league. At age 32 he has a career .298/.386/.561 line with 300 HR and 850 RBI. I'm not sure what formula The Show uses for WAR, but Bryant put up a 9.0 in 2023 and a 8.1 in 2022

What's funny is that Dan Volgebach turned into a thing, with over 100 career HR

I miraculously got drafted by the Cubs as a pitcher and got called up to the starting rotation towards the end of 2018. The Cubs still have pretty much everyone from 2016 and 2017 minus a few turds like Lackey, but the GM has basically turned it into a team of nothing but platoon players. Somehow they got their hands on guys like Cespedes, Tim Beckham, AJ Pollock, yet still have Schwarber, Heyward, Rizzo, Bryant, Baez, Almora, Zobrist and Russell. Contreras is the only significant name I've seen pop up on another team. It's Maddon's lineup madness to the extreme, except Maddon got the boot or quit after 2017. And weird horsefeathers that annoys me since my pitcher isn't a big strikeout guy, like Zobrist in LF, or Almora at SS.

The Playstation Network Store is having a pretty decent flash sale. I am sad to say I'm out $25 after picking up the entire Arkham series.

I don't need Arkham Knight, but I may have to get Return to Arkham just to have the whole series on the same console.

How'd you end up getting one? Did you pay retail?

I've never used the joycons. I've honestly only played with it docked, using my Pro controller.
