Star Trek thread

Postby OleMissCub » Sun Jul 24, 2016 3:55 pm

fanboys are raging because the new ship and title of the new ST series has been revealed. Star Trek: Discovery

And they're mad because, what is clearly test footage that was revealed at ComicCon, looks bad.

What are they griping about? Looks like a damn ST ship.

They bitched about the new movies, too, and I really liked the first two. Looking forward to the new one (RIP Chekov).

This Star Trek movue was really fun, even if I had a few plot questions.

The Discovery teaser was nothing. I couldn't get excited or disappointed...it was just there.

I'm more excited about the Lego Batman trailer than any of those mostly-serious comic book trailers

That's the confusing part; Netflix will be streaming it and all the other ST series...everywhere except the US and Canada. Here you have to watch it through the new CBS streaming service or with commercials on Crackle.

Well, like I said, it's on Crackle for free, but there will be commercials. But yeah, CBS is looking at this, rather understandably, as the big tentpole to launch their streaming service with.

But, it's a "release the whole series at once" kind of thing right? So you can just pay for one month, binge it and cancel?

I don't think so, because the foreign Netflix deal is described like each episode will show up 24 hours after it premiers in the US. I don't know if that means it'll come out daily or weekly, but it doesn't sound like it will all drop at once.

Ah, yep...Les Moonves apparently said that 2 months ago...

[Star Trek] will be episodic, week by week. It won’t be the Netflix [way].

Really stupid.

Question for someone that watched Star Trek Beyond...

Spoiler: show
Did I miss how Uhura got away from Krall?

She pushed the saucer seperation button and was trapped with Krall...but then we suddenly see her sneaking around with Sulu? Did I somehow miss a scene?

Spoiler: show
You must have missed a scene. While the crew are being held hostage, Keenser (Scotty's little green friend) sneezes some kind of acid onto a wall and Uhura and Sulu are able to escape.

Sonequa Martin-Green, well known to genre fans for her role on AMC’s mega-hit The Walking Dead, has been cast as the lead of Star Trek: Discovery, sources tell EW.

Geek Exchange claims that Nicholas Meyer—the writer-director of the iconic Trek movie Wrath of Khan—is developing a miniseries based around Khan for CBS.

Meyer (who has been working Discovery as well, and has recently stated he’s had a second Trek project in the works beyond that) is allegedly crafting a prequel series that would show the events between the original Star Trek episode that saw Kirk dump Khan and his followers on Ceti Alpha V, “Space Seed,” and the villain’s return in Wrath of Khan. Nothing’s been confirmed yet, so take this with a pinch of genetically-enhanced salt for now.
