I’ve seen The Last Jedi.

I’d just like to come out as Team Porg.

Just For Men Luke was really throwing me off, like I would not leave my kids with that guy. I thought the twist was gonna be that he diddled ben.

Maybe I’m the only one but I was disappointed with the movie.

It's going to be a long 30ish hours to avoid spoilers (my tickets are for Saturday afternoon).

Nothing specific but will spoiler to be safe.

Spoiler: show
I was surprised how much bad dialogue and fan service there was in the way some of the first two acts transpired that would be mocked in any other movie. But that third act...tough to come away disappointed with the ride when you end up there.

Too much stupidity up until that point maybe? The Luke stuff at the end was OK but I would have rather seen actual Luke there instead of the Force Ghost Luke or whatever you call it. The whole casino sequence was useless as was the Finn/Rose storyline. And Leia's Mary Poppins flying through space might be worse than Jar Jar Binks.

I thought the Leia stuff was dope, it was bonkers. I didn't enjoy the casino piece and they could have done it all differently and gotten to the same place, but the "empire, rebellion, whatever, we're all the same. Here is the underclass and oh look they can use the force too, luke is right, the jedi horsefeathers everything up and do need to be wiped away. The force is open to all."

You didn't like the third act?

To be more specific:

Spoiler: show
Snoke talking about extinguishing hope in the galaxy was cringe-worthy dialogue in his first scene with Kylo

There were other less egregious examples with Luke, and I still very much liked the movie on the whole, I was just surprised given that I didn't notice it at all in TFA.

Spoiler: show
Over all, I liked the movie....but I felt it could be a lot more compact. The ending was good, but there was too much extra to get there. Unless, Del Toro's character has some role to play in the third movie, then that whole need to get him, etc...was useless. Just made the movie a lot longer. Also, while it was a great scene, the quick demise of Snoke without him actually doing anything kind of made me feel like I did about Darth Maul in Ep1. There's this badass, but yet he's killed just as I'm interested in him. Also, just like in TFA, I felt Phasma was wasted or useless. Make her do something besides being a cool looking stormtrooper.

You can tell Rian Johnson's talent as a director is light years ahead of JJ Abrams (no pun intended). Can't wait to see this again tomorrow morning.

Pretty much agree that the third act saved what was an otherwise ham-fisted first 90 minutes

The movie should win an award for

Spoiler: show
The most boring chase scene of all time

Ren’s version of who Rey’s parents are is bulls***,

Why would we assume that? It may be right, but the theme of TLJ was subverting your expectations and the original movies, so it fits very neatly.

Yeah, maybe you're right. The very final scene kinda ties into that too. My doubts are only based on the character giving us the information

Basically I am pumped as horsefeathers and can't wait to see this again on Monday. I'm pretty convinced there's a bunch of people who actually just want a blank screen that says STAR WARS and then a couple of SERIOUS DUDES jerking off their lightsabers for 2 hours.

one of the takeaways (for me, at least) after watching it for a second time this morning was how much of a national treasure john williams is. he probably wrote "rey's theme" while eating a bowl of cheerios and it's miles ahead of whatever crap they attach to the mcu flicks. marvel movies are a blast to watch but one of their major weaknesses are how much the scores are utterly, utterly forgettable.

also, the amount of hate over luke having a sense of humor/wisecracks is baffling to me. have these people never watched the original trilogy? he talked horsefeathers to vader AND jabba!!!
