You're making it sound like they've already decided to only let men direct the next 10 or whatever Star Wars movies. It will happen soon enough but they'll have to find the right female director that can weather the "You ruined Star Wars!!!11!!!!1" crowd that exists to hate any and all things Star Wars. Coming off successes like WW will help with that I think.

LOL that's the reason you think they haven't hired a female director? They can't handle the Star Wars pressure? What a bunch of [expletive].

You're right. There's no way the film industry would make decisions that were, in any way, sexist.

That's my point...it's purely sexism...it has nothing to do with "can they handle the pressure".

I really can't figure out what that response was supposed to be.

And Weiss/Benioff are writers, not directors.

(ok, they directed 2 of the 67 episodes of GoT, and literally nothing else)

They've both written books (one of which Benioff adapted himself, 25th Hour)

Yeah yeah yeah, the Russian egg one was also great but that doesn't make for good jokes about their inability to make game of thrones Eps without George.

Just stick to making fun of his super lame non-25th Hour screenplays. It won't steer you wrong.

That’s nuts. I figured TFA would be released in 4K in conjunction with TLJ’s theater release. Star Wars has a reputation (even before Disney) for staggering content and releases

SO MUCH CONTENT.

Heck yeah. And there's a Rian Johnson commentary, too. It was a bit annoying that you had to wait for the 3D package of TFA to get any kind of commentary (YES, I AM DORK WHO LISTENS TO COMMENTARIES).

I misread your all caps statement as sarcastically mocking my post about them staggering the release of content, not that content is your fetish

Oh; yeah, gimme all of that content. I was worried after TFA they'd try to shamelessly to get people to at least double-dip with every film, but both R1 and TLJ seem to be showing we'll be getting everything when they're first rolled out to home media now, thankfully.

LOTR was the worst with that. They’d spin out a bare bones DVD, then a more robust version months later, and then the “you can only get these features on the 12 disc super set” a year after that.

Of course, that super set has arguably the best set of content ever released, but they really crapped on people on every initial dvd release

My strategy is to buy the bare bones DVD when it comes out and them look for the deleted scenes on youtube. I don't really care much about the commentary.

Oh man I REALLY wish this had been in the movie. The deleted scene is one segment in a longer show that I didn't watch any more of. It starts at around 1:35 if the video doesn't jump straight to that.

Rian Johnson's reasoning for it not having made the cut...

Spoiler: show
“I really like the little moment of Phasma being caught and getting called out by John, and that little game of chess that they have,” writer-director Rian Johnson told Entertainment Weekly about the scene. “But we needed a much more condensed version of that scene.”
