Yeah, I'm excited for single player. I hope it's longer than BF1

On the one hand, it looks insanely fun

On the other, it's EA, so 80% of it will be an extra $50 of DLC

No season pass.

Upon looking back at how Battlefront changed over time following its launch in 2015 with the addition of DLC, Diemer said the team came to the conclusion that "for this type of game, season passes are not the best thing" and they need to "come up with something better."

I wonder what "something better" means, though. Doesn't mean everything is included in the price of the disc. Could mean something worse than DLC, like a monthly subscription fee or something ridiculous. I mean, this is EA we're talking about

According to The Hollywood Reporter, their ‘style and vision’ clashed with Kasdan’s, and it is believed that Lord and Miller’s tendency to improvise on set was not favoured by Kasdan, who apparently prefers the approach of ‘what is on the page is what must be shot’.

Another source said their clash was also to do with how they view the character of Han Solo. ‘People need to understand that Han Solo is not a comedic personality. He’s sarcastic and selfish,’ the source said.

Uh, have they seen Lord and Miller's work? How did they not know what they were getting?

Yeah, applying those guys to what basically should be a space version of Smokey & the Bandit seemed like a pretty fun idea. Way to suck, Disney.

So, is he salvaging something out of the 4 months of shooting they've already done, or are they reshooting huge chunks of it?

On the one hand, OK, I get it; Disney has this brand now, and they want to keep the tone within a pretty focused parameter that doesn't allow a ton of stylistic or tonal flexibility. But, at the same time, why hire a couple of directors who are acclaimed and popular specifically because of the style of films they make, and then seemingly give them the boot because they do exactly the thing that they were seemingly hired for in the first place? Like, this wasn't something that should have snuck up on anyone; by all reports Lord & Miller were making a Lord & Miller set in the Star Wars universe. If that's not what they wanted, then why the hell hire them in the first place?

I feel like "envisioning" what a lord & miller han solo movie could be and then actually seeing it getting made could be a big difference.

Isn't this the same thing that happened with Ant-Man and Edgar Wright. I just don't think Wright ever filmed anything.

Nah; in that case, Wright had been bouncing around an idea/pitch for an Ant-Man movie for some time that Marvel really, really liked, but ultimately he didn't want to compromise that to fit the characters into the connected movie universe that Marvel was insisting on. There's nothing that indicates there was any kind of clash in terms of the filmmaker's style; Wright just wanted his film to not have to directly connected to all the other Marvel movies. Marvel basically said, "we love your movie, but can you spend 5-10 minutes fitting in stuff from these other movies?" Wright refused, and they parted ways.

Man, you know who would be kind of a perfect choice to direct this kind of blockbuster?

Gore Verbinski.
