Thank god I'm not hooked on RotJ thanks to my age when it came out; that movie really is (Yabba the) butt except for the last 25 minutes or so.

I was 8 when it came out. Perfect age to really be hyped about it. Loved it as a kid.

Also the movie that did a great job of hopping back and forth between an epic battle and more personal scenes in the third act (and set the template for the two newest films)

Oh, I loved it as a kid, too; I just don't think it has aged well at all. It's way too much of a slog until the final act(s), and the Jabba stuff is just a complete waste of time and cool-looking Muppets.

I love the Jabba stuff. I think because I liked those toys the best. Ree Yees, Gamorrean Guard, Weequay, Barada, Amanaman, Klaatu, sure I'm forgetting some of them.

ESB and ANH are thisclose for me. Hoth was my favorite setting and battle though, loved the damn AT-AT's.....

The ewoks still don't truly bother me, but I'm sure they would if I had been teenaged or older the first time I saw them.

Additional rule: you have to have one or the other. The only exception is you have an amazing board name. davell, I'm looking at you; put up a [expletive] avatar or something if your name only sounds like somebody tried say Dave as they lapsed into a coma.

Also Tarkin auto corrected to Starlin for me.

No judgement here...but I don't know how it's even possible to have only seen the original trilogy once. That's kind of amazing to me.

I just read a theory that Snoke is Mace Windu. Not sure I buy it.

The Jar Jar theory was better.

Rey is going to build a dual lightsaber out of Luke's blue and green ones and when she actives it, it plays Duel of the Fates.

the now laughable Rogue One/Knights of Ren theory was about a million times better than that. That's awful.

My parents never showed it to me and it never came on HBO growing up as a kid that I could remember. My parents only had a smattering of VHS' that we owned and, ironically, the movie I rented the hell out of at the local video store was Spaceballs, but I never saw the original trilogy until I was an adult. I saw Episode 1 before I saw any of the originals.

It was more about my family not showing them to me and, thus, me not really knowing enough about it for me to be like "I wanna see Star Wars!!!!" because by the time I was forming cognitive memories the trilogy was already over with. My childhood was all about Ghostbuster and Back to the Future.

I also did not see E.T. for the first time until earlier this year. But I was able to watch the horsefeathers out of Footloose. Thanks, Mom and Dad, for purchasing that gem.

I'd have those two very close at the top, but I still prefer ESB. It is possible that the preference is nostalgia driven. At age 13 I was better able to soak it all in than when I watched the original at age 10.

Then I'd put the two new movies in the next tier.

ROTJ was incredible when it first came out, but the Ewoks have largely ruined it for me over time. To me, this is where Lucas became seduced by the dark side of the force.

Agreed. The Ewok Battle scene was the first time I rolled my eyes during a SW film, when Chewie was swinging in on a rope and did the Tarzan cry. I was 11.
ESB was the best because Vader was ruthless. It was the darkest of episodes 4-6.

"stable" is sometimes code. Like "well she's still critical but she's not getting any worse at the moment."

My stupid Shower Thought for the day: out of nowhere, it struck me as odd that in the SW universe, political or military titles trump royal titles. In two separate instances, characters were introduced as royalty (Leia/Padme) but later were "promoted" to a different title (General Leia, Senator Amidala).

Padme's royal lineage is more clear than Leia's. Leia's father is also a Senator, but is he also a King? A Duke? Is his wife a Queen or a Princess?

Anyway, don't know why this never occurred to me before today.

Leia's dad was a Prince Consort like Prince Phillip, Queen Elizabeth's husband. He was married to the Queen of Alderaan.

Which title is used depends on whatever the current setting is. For example, she's referred to as Queen Amadala on Naboo, but as Senator Amadala when she is partaking in the Galactic Senate.
