Not sure how a 12 year old can be that big a fan of such a vanilla program.
Shoot, I WENT to Northwestern and I care less than that kid does

I hate rooting for Kentucky, but my bracket is still going strong, so I'm happy with that W. Wichita St. absolutely shouldn't have been a 10-seed, though.

This was a no call, which paired with the proceeding horrendous no call deflection the prior play sealed the deal for UNC.

I agree he was mugging him, but that should've been either charge/block or a travel. I'm not sure how all 3 refs decided not to call something there.
The next play, I thought the video review showed the fingers move when he deflect the ball so it should've been Arkansas ball, but I don't think it would've mattered much considering there was 1 or 2 sec left on the play clock.

Or the fact that the ball was rotating out of the shooter's hand then became a knuckle ball.

Re: 2016-2017 College Basketball Thread
I thought after going 16-0 on Thursday, that thing were going to go terribly wrong on Friday. As it turns out, I was only off by a day.
I'd only lost SMU from my Sweet 16 teams in the first round so I could have gone 15-1 this weekend. Barring a Cincinnati comeback, I'll go 5-11. Lost 4 Elite 8 teams including both of my finalists. Guess I won't have to bother checking my bracket the rest of the tournament.

Well, his dad is the Northwestern AD so not shocking he cares more than you.
Bet you'd only get that worked up if someone burned all the jorts in the world.
Sorry, I've never made a Derwood jorts joke on NSB(B) and really wanted to.

Re: 2016-2017 College Basketball Thread
Whew. Went with Kentucky in my "survive and advance" bracket. Now on Thursday, I have to choose between: Gonzaga, Xavier, Arizona, Oregon, Michigan, Kansas and Purdue (West Virginia was my Day 1 pick.)
Kansas seems like the easy choice here, but then I lose them for the rest of the tourney, and they're playing as well as anyone right now, so I'd really like to hang on to them for at least one more round. I think I'm choosing between Zags, Zona and Michigan. Which of the 3 is most likely to win Thursday, but not likely to make it to the Final Four?

Looks like I could go:
23: Gonzaga
24: UNC
25: Kansas
26: Arizona
If the FInal Four is Kansas/UNC or Kentucky/Arizona/Baylor, I'm screwed because I will have picked them all.

Re: 2016-2017 College Basketball Thread
Geez, I suspect many are in this boat but went from 28/32 in the first round with 15 of my Sweet 16 teams, and all of my E8, F4, NC teams left to...
8 of 16 sweet 16 teams
4 of 8 elite 8 teams
2 of 4 final 4 teams
luckily i still have both my NC game participants, but so hopefully not a lot of people in my pool had Gonzaga and Kentucky in their NC game

I'm only down 3 E8 teams, and it would only be 2 (Nova and Duke) if I hadn't gone full blind homer and put ND there. Nova was my runner-up, so that's a problem.
Oddly enough, I haven't missed a single game yet in the Midwest region, which juxtaposes nicely with the complete mess I have going in the East.

yeah my midwest was 100% perfect until i went anti-homer and took louisville over Michigan and into the final 4. whoops. Other than that every single game has been correct so far, although i have purdue beating kansas this weekend so we will see how that goes

Pretty stunning that a pre-teen would care more about his favorite college team than someone who went there for a master's in theater? What?

I didn't get that either. When I was 12, I absolutely lost my horsefeathers about games. It made some of the crap I used to post in the CFB threads look tame.
