Rumor has it he was told he'd redshirt and maybe play by year 3. He was told he come come, but he wouldn't play.

Looks like Bragg is back in play.

Also, keep an eye on Lawson brothers, too. Dedric averaged 20 and 10 last year.

Looks like former IU asst. Chuck Martin will be the Illini's final assistant.

that's what I thought, but couldn't remember for sure. 247 composite rankings had Richmond (29) one spot ahead of Leonard.

Scout ranked Leonard as the 19th best player in the country. A 5-star recruit.

ok? scout is included in 247's composite ranking, no? Also, who cares?

Right, but the composite includes bad sites, too. So ranking is handicapped by rivals and others, who are generally more respected in football.

I'm going to call it and say that Illinois is going to get Mark Smith. Unless Kentucky whiffs on the others they have lined up.

down to Illinois and MSU, and the Illini will likely have the last in-home.

I continue to feel real good about this. As of right now, if he committed anywhere but Illinois, I would be shocked. they have him sold on his role as the main guy as a freshman. a guy who will have the ball in his hands, though not necessarily the point guard. he's sold on leading the Illini back to relevance on the national scene, he's essentially sold on being that guy.

Michigan State has a better track record as far as the tournament and getting guys to the pros, and that isn't lost on the dad or mom. however, Mark has wanted to be an Illini this whole time, and was respecting his parents by gaining some perspective. i think they were able to appease mom and dad by coming in with Underwood's plan and telling Mark exactly how he'll fit in, and then alluding to the successes of Jeffery Carroll and Jawun Evans.

like i said, if it happened today and it wasn't the Illini, i'd be shocked. but we know how things change.

Weirdest leak ever: bakery employees reveal that the cake to be served at Smith's announcement will be orange and blue.
