Syracuse: "We controversially make it into tournament based on a questionable resume and then blow through much better teams to make it farther than we should"

Izzo playing that big white guy over Ward most of the 2nd half was a bold choice. Also not getting Bridges on the FT line vs that zone and just letting him just roam around the perimeter and chuck 3s seemed dumb.

Whatever deal with the devil Boeheim made to make 2016 & this year happen, I just hope I can be there to see him pay up on it

So in the last 45 seconds Xavier let 22 seconds run off the clock (including a timeout in the middle) before fouling while down 1 with 22 seconds left. Then down three, they walk the ball up the court and hoist a 3. It was an open one but show some urgency and maybe go to the basket.

No idea what Xavier was doing in its final possession.

That was awful. But seems like they always lose their tournament games in a painful way. Macura really got horsefeathers on 3 foul calls there. Him having to be out so long and then fouling out killed them.

Meanwhile the other side is chalk outside of Syracuse (if you say the 4-5 seeds are basically equal). Two 1's, two 2's, one 3, two 5's and an 11.

UMBC is pretty much a commuter school. It was funny when ESPN went there to get a shot of the whole campus going nuts and they had to gather all 40 people that didn't go home for the weekend together to look like anyone cared.

UMBC has a fine chess program.

That was an incredible first weekend. I wasn't really expecting it after a few of the good mid majors got locked out. And, incredibly, we got all that madness without a 12 seed winning a game.

12, 14 & 15 were the only seeds that didn't win a game.

So the championship game is going to be Villanova destroying Kentucky?

The downside of the Cinderella teams is really bad games like last nights UMBC/KSU debacle. And several more un compelling sweet 16 match ups on the horizon.

Right. People love upsets in the first rounds, hate them afterwards

Exactly. Except in the rare case of a team like George Mason making it to the final four as a 27 seed or whatever.

We’ve been to the Sweet Sixteen twice in the last 11 years. I’m ready for more so why not win the whole horsefeathering thing?

They're not chucking, they're playing Weber-ball. Hey we're up by 10 with 7 minutes left, let's stall.
