the nba is basically the spanish league (soccer) where there's real madrid, barcelona, then a bunch of other teams who are hoping that maybe if they have a good year they can finish 3rd through 5th.

Super teams are good for the NBA and condensing the talent is better than having one star surrounded by a bunch of horsefeathers players.

As long as there is competition. Last years conference finals were good....the finals weren’t

There should be like 5 less teams in the league to condense it more. Having 2-3 all-star level guys per team is better than having a near all-star and a bunch of JR Smith’s and Tony Snell’s on every team, which is what the parity argument is for.

And the year before nothing was good.

There’s never really a surprise in the NBA, it will never be MLB with its unpredictability. You’ve known the 2-4 teams every year who were gonna be in the finals at the start of the year 9 times out of 10 since forever.

And that still doesn't matter. The Warriors would have won the 2019 title easily without Cousins.

Easily? They were down 3-2 to Houston last year, coming close to not even making the finals. Without Cousins, are they "easily" better than Houston in 18-19?

did you even watch those gsw-houston games? the warriors goofed around then held houston to 22 (twenty two!!!) second half points in game 6 and outscored them by 20 in the second half in game 7. they were never in danger and were clearly far superior.

anyway, the boogie stuff is not really that big of a deal. the rest of the nba already knows the 18-19 season is over - look at lebron. best player of our lifetime goes to a rebuilding team with no other stars (and nothing even resembling a star) because he knows it's not about this upcoming season, it's about going to a place with some building blocks and cap space for the next offseason when the warriors will likely lose one or two of their core.

as for cousins, he's a 300 pound guy with a torn achilles, the history of those types of injuries in the nba is not good. He might come back and be a nothing.

Not sure if LeBron is okay essentially punting on winning a title next year (he should be because they aren’t beating the Warriors next year anyway).

That’s my thinking as well. Let Ingram grow another year, Kuzma is a nice wing player to pair with Lebron and Lonzo I still like. Also do a 1 year deal for Boogie. Enough to be interesting, not enough to win. Make sure Ingram doesn’t really take another huge leap and get a guy or two next year when the picture is clearer on what the young guys are.

Lonzo, Kwahi or Klay, Lebron, Kuzma, Ingram and Randle would let you do a lot of Warriors like things. I just hope they’re patient and Lebron bought in to it for the year instead of false title hopes.

So goodbye Randle. Don't like paying Stephenson $4.5M and Rondo $9M when Randle signs for 2/$18M with the second being player option. They could have given him the same deal and it probably doesn't affect next year at all since Randle specifically so he could be a FA next year. I would understand if those guys could shoot (not that Randle can either) but they can't.

The only good thing is all these deals are one year.

Yeah not a fan of this. Spacing is gonna be an issue with this squad and (like you said) even though Randle can't shoot he's at least young and has upside and also doesn't have the personality issues Rondo/Lance have. The locker room is going to be a mess I feel like. One year deals so even if (when) it blows up you wash your hands of these guys next year or in the year, but still don't like it.

Any time you can just get rid of a 24 year old (at the start of next season) who has gotten better each season he’s been in the league and just put up a 16 and 8, and literally get nothing back in return, you just have to do it.

The NBA will never be parity filled, which is fine, but a sporting event with zero competition is boring. I didn’t even watch a finals game this past season

Remember when the Thunder wouldn’t go a couple million over the luxury tax to sign James Harden? Well, they’re going to be paying $150M in luxury tax this year.

I know I’m out of touch with the NBA when players I’ve never heard of are getting max deals

The kid in Phoenix. I'm sure I've heard his name, but until I read the article about the deal, I couldn't have told you where he went to school, where he went in the draft, etc.

Devin Booker, SG. The kid is pretty talented. I got him for my fantasy team during his rookie season. Fantastic shooter.

He’s scored more points in a single game than MJ ever did. Strange that Derwood has never heard of him

I barely followed the Bulls the past two years, you think I pay attention to the rest of the NBA?

Isaiah Thomas signs a one year, $2million deal with Denver. Yikes, the bloom fell off that rose in a hurry

I hate Isaiah Thomas and always thought he was overrated. His defense sucks and his personality is grating. I hope this humbles him, but I doubt it.
