Isn't reps one of the express purposes of the preseason? I'm with you on this point, this sh*thead better straighten some things out come Monday night.

Caught a bit of the Score last night, one of the themes was Trubisky is a work in progress, ok. When will this rhetoric become tiresome? After game 8 or 9? Is asking too much to see something substantial from Trubiskly until then?

I think both sides have a fair point. QBs develop at different rates...not necessarily right to give up on him yes, but very fair to acknowledge that there are some red flags popping up.

What if Mitch Trubisky is just bad? He might be bad.

One point I forgot to mention was his confidence, they were touting it, sure as horsefeathers didn't look a confident player in the 2nd half. The work in progress is effective if we see improvement game to game.

They're probably be better off with Stephen Tobolowsky instead.

If he's legitimately bad, he'll be out of a job by December. If he's mediocre, he'll still get this year, and there will be a QB competition with Daniel next summer, and then Pace will be fired after the 2020 season, and a new GM will come in and be given a year to make it work with Nagy, using the 2021 First Round pick on a QB. This will be Nagy's last chance for an extension.

So let's hope Mitch is good. Because bad Mitch will result in 3+ years of awful football with no hope for turnaround.

Right. I don’t think it can be overstated how “all-in” the Bears’ front office have gone with Trubisky. They’ve basically banked the next three years and their jobs on him being worth the 2nd pick of the draft.

They cashed in every bit of developmental wiggle room with the Mack trade. They can’t go 6-10 and say, “We saw some nice things from Mitch this year and will pair him with a top 10 draft pick.” It’s basically playoffs or bust.

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

I think he winds up like a Tannehill or someone. Basically decent. Which wasn't worth anything close to using a pick that high on him.

No, he was good. Had the talent to be great. His tenure here was definitely flawed. Wouldn't consider THAT to be good. But, I do think it could have been, as they inexplicably failed to surround him with anything remotely close to a full puzzle.

you're saying you wouldn't consider his tenure here to be good? so you agree?

the fact that he had some nebulous unfulfilled potential doesn't really change what he was.

We saw this several times last season, in a similar vein wasn't there an earlier red zone possession in which Cohen was wide open on the right? Can't blame his inability to spot or throw to open receivers on the new-ness of the HC and OC.

His awareness in the pocket is horrible right now. He's ready to scramble to his right even before the DL has gotten beyond containment. His mechanics/footwork seem fine, he might be one where one throw will be one that only a couple of greats could make and the next be one that Henry Burris could make 99 out 100 times, yet he misses.
