Week 2: Seahawks @ Bears MNF on ESPN 7:15PM

Postby jersey cubs fan » Mon Sep 10, 2018 2:32 pm

In honor of 9/11 week the jet fuel doesn't melt steel beams coach brings his Seahawks into Chicago for their 2nd straight road game to open the season, after looking rather bleh against Denver. This was chalked up as a likely loss in the offseason, but the Bears are 3 point favorites based on one half of surprisingly good football in GB.

Chicago will be in primetime again, and will need to do something early to avoid the boo birds coming out in full effect. There's still hope for a decent season, but an 0-2 start is going to put the kibosh on realistic playoff hopes.

the Seahawks are a bigger mess the the Bears. They have Russel, but that defense is a shell of itself and all of the secondary whining wont help. Still, rookie HC, new offense and the like, the Bears D has to win this one

Seattle isn't scary anymore but with Wilson still dangerous. Their pass blocking was exposed. They might not have Baldwin and lost a starting CB. Would be nice to face a mediocre QB with both teams meeting at 0-1. Hopefully we see a lot of Roquan. Nick is certainly not chasing Wilson down.
It will be rather illuminating how they respond and defend their home field.

Von Miller owned the Seahawks yesterday. Hopefully Mack can do the same on Monday night.

That RT has to be sick to his stomach having to deal with Von Miller in week 1 and Khalil Mack in week 2.

I'm wondering if we'll see an over-reaction by Nagy, will he be super aggressive, throwing deep on nearly every series? One thing's for certain, if we see the 2nd half offense of the GB game the fan hatred will start early.

Going to this game. My first Bears (or any football) game since the Bears/Packers MNF game in 2010, one of the few times Jay beat GB.

I'm both excited and dreading the misery of getting into and out of Soldier Field.

Does anyone know what the least painful way to get there would be from the north burbs? Was kicking around either an Uber (probably still cheaper than parking there, definitely less stressful) or just taking the train from Skokie or Evanston.

I would take the train to Union and Uber it from there. Another option would be jumping on the purple line to the red line down to Roosevelt and walking 15 minutes/uber/bus from there.

Depends on what time you're planning to get to Soldier. With parts of Lake Shore under construction, combining potential Bears and rush hour traffic, I'd imagine it would be a nightmare to ride in an uber as opposed to taking the El to Roosevelt and walking from there.

Yep, right now I'm leaning toward taking the yellow line in skokie to the red line or purple line express and taking that to roosevelt. Hope to be ready to leave around 5:30.

Then maybe an uber home

Doug Baldwin, KJ Wright, and Bobby Wagner are all out Monday night. DJ Fluker also out. Shaquill Griffin is also doubtful, in addition to another pair of backup DBs.

If the Bears don't win this game, it's going to be a long season.

Have we played Seattle since that one game where Marshall put up like 150 and we blew a late lead on some Russell Wilson voodoo? That game was [expletive].

26-0 loss in Seattle in Week 3 of 2015. Marshall was gone. Jeffery was hurt. Cutler had 48 net yards passing (63- 15 in sacks).

Kirk Cousins putting up 425 yards and 4 TD passes on the Packers defense that befuddled Trubisky is not encouraging.

I don’t think there’s any question the Bears will need to win with D, and that Trubisky is an average QB. Sucks, but true.

If you are looking for a silver lining (which I am), the Packers are a Fuller INT and a missed XP FG away from 0-2. And at home.

Has the "we should have taken Mahomes over Trubisky" narrative started up yet?

Yeah, there's been some. Reading a lot of "Jacksonville should have picked Mahomes over Fournette" today since Yeldon is a capable RB.
