obviously the Association looks craven & pathetic here but the gotcha stuff with some of the players is a reach imo; it's ok to not weigh in if you don't really have a well-formed opinion
There is definitely some gotcha-ing, but "I need to learn more about the issue" is a major cop out in this case. It's not like these questions are coming up out of the blue -- NBA player/coach/GM/owner perspectives on China are incredibly relevant now.
Guys like Kerr and Pop and Lebron don't need to understand the history of the Qing Dynasty to say that censorship and shipping citizens off to camps (and doing god knows what to them) because of their religion are bad things.
