Yeah Urban definitely putting his best foot forward with that short-lived hire.

If you guys think NFL coaching staffs are filled with wonderful people wait until you see the rosters.

Just saw that. Looks like either a suicide or an OD. Pretty sad. Really active in philanthropy and seemed to be well liked. We graduated High School the same year in Colorado Springs.

Re: 2021 NFL Offseason
Wow, 38
Jackon's combine: 6'5", 241#, 4.46 40, 1.57 10yd split, 39" vert, 6.84 3 cone, 4.00 shuttle, 23 reps
He was part of one of the best draft classes of the 2000s: Shawne Merriman, Luis Castillo, Jackson, and Darren Sproles in 2005 for the Chargers, a key player on a great non-champion team in 2006, and generally one of the better WRs in the league for a decade. I remember his FA was a big deal, caught alot of the standard FA guff but he handled that like a pro too. Guy had one of those low key excellent and exciting NFL careers, RIP

Don't like this comment. The subject is a white guy who was fired for doing and saying racist things getting a job 5 months later, and your response is about players (who are 70% black" doing bad things? This reeks of "there's fine people on big sides" BS.ConstableRabbit wrote:If you guys think NFL coaching staffs are filled with wonderful people wait until you see the rosters.
Giving you benefit of the doubt that that wasn't your intent, but I don't think this is a good comment.

I don't get why Meyer still has a job, there's never been more coaching talent. Eviiiiiil

The cap is rumored to be coming down from $198 to $180-181. Always fun to remind that these teams also own the largely publicly funded stadiums and receive all kinds of benefits and breaks. This is madness

Network partners Fox, ViacomCBS, NBC and Disney’s ESPN pay the league roughly $6 billion per year, with AT&T-owned DirecTV adding another $1.5 billion for the Sunday Ticket package. It’s been widely rumored the next agreement could reach $100 billion via a 10-year deal. Other options include a seven-year deal at $14 billion per year or an eight-year deal at $12 billion per year.
Working in the NFL’s favor is a new 10-year labor agreement reached last year with the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), more postseason contests and a 17-game regular-season schedule, which the league is planning to implement next season. Hence, with the extra games added, the NFL wants its fee.

It’s less about “bad people on both sides” and more about the fact that the bar for personal conduct in the NFL is despicably low. The arrest rate for NFL players — charges for legitimate violent crime — is bad. It’s likely similar for coaching staffs.
This dude is a complete POS and there have been rumblings about his behavior for years. I certainly wouldn’t want him working for me. But this is the NFL, where personal conduct has largely been ignored for years. Reasonable people can disagree whether charges of racism should be the red line and not charges of assault or domestic violence and I respect the thought that it should be a red line, but this is a board where folks stopped being Cubs fans because of the Addison Russell situation. Ten players in the NFL were arrested on gun or violent criminal charges last year alone. Nothing is shocking anymore.

The point is, the conversation was about 1 coach. Not about the league in general. And I don't think there's a red line between anything. Everything should be punished accordingly. The issue was a guy fired 5 months prior for being racist, was hired to coach in a league where 70% of the players are black.
Also, 10 players on gun/violent charges out of 2000+ players is less than 1/2 a percent of the players. I'd argue that that's not "bad". Not ideal. But according to this site......
https://www.usatoday.com/sports/nfl/arr ... 0/all/all/
Of the 10, 2 were dropped charges (Baker, Dunbar weird situation), 4 were out of the league for most of the season (Rosa kicked in 6 games), and 1 was Odell slapping a cop's ass.

Lawrence is the only QB in his top 10 prospects, Trey Lance is next as the 11th ranked player, Fields at 12, and Wilson goes from 4th to off the list. Woof...pity the teams that don't trade for Watson

Explain to me what you mean by Wilson goes from 4th to off the list. The list you linked has him 4th.

Re: 2021 NFL Offseason
Carolina is just a superficial contender IMO. Yeah they have the best team but also the least to trade, might already lose a good RT either way. Personally the idea that the NFL would allow a team with a top and top paid RB to trade for an elite QB on a second contract is funny. If anyone gets to to do that, it's Jerry Jones and without giving up draft picks. Tobacco Phil or whoever owns the Panthers is going to draft a QB

Nice stereotype.
David Tepper owns the Panthers. He’s from Pittsburgh and iirc was a minority owner for the Steelers before.

Re: 2021 NFL Offseason
Kiper has 5 QBs in the top 10 of his last mock (Lawrence, Wilson, Fields, Jones, Lance)
This draft is very hard to keep up with, not complaining but it's different. I see Pitts over Chase alot lately among the pass catchers, not sure I agree with that but it's interesting to see a TE so highly regarded
----
Also:
Get 'em, Judon! I, for one, am stunned at the idea that a Disney sports reporter might falsely report an offer to make the player look Greedy in the eyes of the NFL fanbase
