David wrote:I'm heavily biased as a Cuban because I really was not at all pleased with the Fidel Castro thing, but I've never had an issue with the kneeling protest and what he was protesting over is and was absolutely a worthy cause.

On the one hand, I wouldn't want him on the Bears and hate how he plays, but he's obviously not worse than the like 90 QBs or whatever that have employment. There's no question he's being blackballed, if only passively so, for lack of a better term.

Yea, I think part of the whole blackball term is a sticking point to some, as it conjures up hidden meetings with shadowy NFL owner representatives colluding together.

It certainly has hurt him. Fit has hurt him to to some extent. If a third of all teams are a bad fit offense wise and a third of all teams have superior depth at their top two spots, it leaves the question about the remaining third teams. Like if Dallas is in that latter third group, we know Kapernick is not going to be cleared by ownership. Probably the Bears too. And that has gotten it to the point for some teams that have kicked around the idea, like Baltimore, to say "let's gauge public reaction to this", which undoubtedly is hurting his chances.

Ahhh, the whole "bad fit for X system" is a bunch of horse horsefeathers as soon as anyone spends 5 seconds look at the complete dregs and wastes of meat who make up these backups. This has, like, 5% to do with his football ability and 95% due to the PR he brings with him, yet these chumps can't even be upfront about that to the point that they do this wimpy anonymous crap with the same rehearsed RG3 excuse.

Like, one of these anonymous dummies basically flat out said, "uh, yeah, give me the terrible guy over the guy with some success and some talent." I'll bet his face was twitching from the dead half-smile plastered on his flop-sweaty face while he said it, too.

well i mean this is a different conversation.

assuming both are willing to take a backup QB role, both should be on rosters. that's pretty much the end of this. they're both way more talented enough for that role. so either they don't want to be a back-up and are refusing to sign in that capacity or they should have been signed by like 80 percent of teams yesterday. either way, i'm sick of it all. what he did was a peaceful protest. members of our armed forces have come out time and time again and said they have no issues and that is why they chose to do what they do - to protect that freedom.

RGIII was pretty bad last year. I mean in theory I guess he's still a top 90 QB, but teams probably would rather take a chance on a younger healthier guy to hang around the bottom of the roster.

Kapernick is borderline starter QB, and while I can get around why he didn't land a starter or even open QB competition roll like the Jets (as there aren't many to begin with), his price has dropped enough that the other factors should have taken over, and the ugly beast this controversy has become makes it even less likely.

i mean it's not a hill i'm willing to die on, but RGIII was hurt [insert as always joke; it's allowed] last year, too. he clearly has tools. i certainly understand not wanting to commit on him as a starter or anything crazy like that bc he is probably going to get hurt again and again. but, what's the downside for a "normal backup QB" salary? i mean if the starter goes down then he at least has the possibility of highish level play (he's still young enough and he's clearly athletic if healthy). if he gets hurt while being the backup QB then you go to 3rd string and with the garbage that is 2nd string NFL quarterbacks is there really any difference bt 2nd and 3rd string? at least to the degree that you may (again, not putting my neck out here for this but maybe better odds than most 2nd string QBs) get good play out of RGIII?

i think he has matured personally from what i've read/heard (no idea if accurate, of course) but he doesn't seem like some toxic clubhouse personality from all accounts i have heard in the last couple years.

i couldn't care less if he signs or not, i just think it's slightly odd. maybe he isn't a great teammate after all or maybe he has contract demands or something but i would pick him up in a heartbeat if i were a gm and needed a backup and everything checked out.

If you thought Jason Whitlock was going to let Albert Breer top him, you were sadly mistaken.

i was listening to some sports radio station on my echo earlier today and jim rome came on. i listened for a few minutes bc i'm a glutton for punishment and after that i couldn't take it any longer. holy horsefeathers is he terrible. his delivery sucks. his opinions suck. everything about him is horrible.

i said out loud, "alexa, never play jim rome again" and she turned off the radio show. i'm not sure if she did, but i could swear that she slightly rocked backwards and forwards as if to nod in approval.

Aahahahahahahahaah!

https://deadspin.com/steph-curry-on-tha ... 1818861488

Steph Curry didn’t mince words when asked about the cover of this week’s issue of Sports Illustrated, on which was photoshopped front-and-center and arm-in-arm with Roger Goodell and LeBron James under the ([expletive]) guise of “unity.”

Curry said the cover was “just terrible” and “kind of capitalizing on the hoopla and the media and all that nonsense” around the discussions of protest this weekend.

He added that there are “real people that understand exactly what’s been going on and who’s really been active and vocal and truly making a difference... and if you don’t have Kaepernick front and center on that, then something’s wrong.”

The SI cover was met with immediate criticism after it was revealed, prompting executive editor Steve Cannella to appear in a video to explain its intentions. Kaepernick’s image appears nowhere on the cover of the issue, but Cannella claimed that “in some ways, even though his picture is not there, Colin Kaepernick is there.”

What a simpering, mewling, mediocre white douche.
