The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

So i am both too lazy and too drunk to go through the last 10 pages. Who is going down/getting released for this move?

With Lackey technically on the DL, the active roster is at 24.

I went back and checked that Sharma tweet and noticed Butler wasn't a part of the schedule(which included Montgomery twice), so when Lackey does need to come back on Tuesday then he's probably going back to Iowa.

Would MUCH rather have Archer, who might've been available in 2 weeks. Our farm system is now in the bottom 5 in baseball. We havent had very good drafts in the past 5 years outside of the first round.

I hate the fact that I will have to watch Eloy become a star on another team in the same city. It sucks.

I think I would have traded Almora/Candelario/Cease for a different guy. Agh

Lots and lots of wrong things here.

Did you do that on purpose?

I guess he did do it on purpose.

Bumgarner's is really good ($12M in each of next 2 seasons), but, yes. Without looking it up I'm guessing Rizzo's is the biggest steal among such contracts in baseball.

You guys ever hear of Chris Sale?

Sale was traded and I just decided to completely forget that it didn't mean his contract was reset

I like this trade the more I think about it. I'm over the initial shock. It's really a fair deal for both sides. The reports I'm seeing make it sound like his slow start was a bit of a fluke. Also it's pretty damn cool we have him for three more years. It's like he's on a 3 year 31 mil deal after this season. Pretty ridiculous for someone his caliber.

Quintana is going to wear 62 with the Cubs.

Should've traded for Archer since he wears a real number.
