Just so long as they don't trade for Archer and then sign Yu, it's all good.

All these rumors about impact guys and then the Brewers just ending up with Whit horsefeathering Merrifield would be just terrific

Funny thing is, even if they made both those moves and lost nothing from their roster, they'd still project more than ten games behind the Cubs by Steamer.

Wow. Nice. And we'd gain even more ground again when we sign Cobb or (ducks head) Arrieta.

Not saying it will happen, but the Cubs coming back from a 3-1 deficit to win the World Series does seem like the appropriate way to cap off this season and make the 30-for-30 even better.

How are the fans at that Brewers message board handling the idea of them shortening their window?

LOL. The guy who claims to know things there says there is a waterfall of moves set up and multiple trades are agreed to but predicated on one going through. I could see something like Travis Shaw to the Yankees for Ellsbury and most or all of his salary and a good prospect or 2 then Domingo Santana and maybe a guy like Villar or Sutter/Woodruff and a prospect(s) to the Indians for Kipnis and Salazar then they can go sign Moustakas/Fraizer for 3B. Don't think it makes them better but allows them to potentially sell high on two guys and buy a good prospect or 2 from the Yankees and a lotto ticket in Salazar if he ever stays healthy.

Fun Fact, according to Steamer Jason Heyward would be the leader in WAR for the Brewers in 2018. .5 more than the top position player and .4 more than the top pitcher. We have 11 players projected for more WAR than the Brewers highest projected WAR player and Bryant and Rizzo both project to produce more WAR by themselves than the Brewers entire starting infield combined (Thames, Villar, Arcia, Shaw and Vogt) as well.

Basically when the Brewers show up to a projection fight with us and think they can compete....

I’m waiting with bated breath to see who the Brewers get to keeps them within the delusion of a WC spot.

ENOUGH!

Any frustration I had ,with last year’s team, was their penchant for not always achieving their obvious greatness. It had nothing to do with the horsefeathering Brewers. 92 wins is the floor, not the ceiling, you plebs. I assure you I’m too drunk and dumb to understand any dissenting argument, so save it.

Giants signed Austin Jackson to a 2-year deal. Reports are they want him as their 4th outfielder and are still looking.

Things are "heating up" (relatively).

The Brewers sources guy says Santana to an AL team as soon as tomorrow. I’d guess Odorizzi, Fulmer, Salazar or Duffy for major league arms. He’s not nearly enough for Archer. Or else he’s traded off for prospects to replenish the Yelich trade a bit then they sign Cobb/Lynn/Jake

I agree Santana’s not enough for Archer but I don’t think he’s enough for the other guys you mentioned either. More like him ++.

Yeah, Santana alone isn't going to buy you a ton. He had a decent year in 2017, but he's a regression candidate. I'd think you'd need to add Philips for even the second tier of SP.

Once you regress his babip, how is Santana more valuable than Happ? Happ has more years of control, is a better defender, younger and within easy range of Santana in performance, if not equal. (again, that's after regressing Santana's babip)

If we could have had Salazar for Happ straight up, it would have happened.

Leaving aside the fair point about Santana(who is more likely than not to have already had his best MLB season), it's quite possible the Cubs have no interest in trying to time the 110 IP they'd get from Salazar just right.

Yeah I think Santana gets you someone nice, but a tier below the Duffy/Salazar/Fulmer types. I think an Odorizzi or a Kendall Graveman or someone of that ilk. Actually the A's in general make a lot of sense. Santana for any non-Manaea starter they have looks about right.

Cubs signed 31-year-old 1B Efren Navarro to minor league deal to fill their AAA 1B slot.
