I'd have loved Dyson at that price. Realistically, the only way I can see how it'd work(without Almora or Happ being sent down) would be go with 12 pitchers and just constantly use the 10 day DL, to keep everyone getting innings(and healthy). But, considering we used the DL less than anyone last year, I'm not thinking Theo is a fan of manipulating the system. I think he even complained about the Dodgers doing it, or something, if I remember correctly.

Thought that was one of the places that made most sense for him. Though it’s Heyman and maybe he’s just getting his Boras stooge on

God, I hope it's Philadelphia. It'll break my heart to have to root against him if he signs with the Brewers or Cardinals. Really, I was hoping for the Twins or the Rangers, but that looks out of the cards now.

That High Heat guy is still sticking to his guns that Cobb will be a Brewer and thinks it’s 80% chance it’s by Monday (whatever that means). He also makes it sound like other than a trade or release of like Aguilar or some other ancillary piece they are pretty much done until the deadline. If that’s the case, congrats on your 77-83 wins.

The Pirates announced that they’ve acquired outfielder Corey Dickerson from the Rays in exchange for reliever Daniel Hudson, minor league infielder Tristan Gray and cash.

Lol that bozo HighHeat just said the Brewers FO become aware of him and to protect his source he’s deleting his twitter account. This is after saying Cobb signing was down to 20% and that Brewers fans should be prepared to be disappointed with signings (guessing he meant guys going elsewhere) in the next 24 hours.

Since the Rays seem intent on trading anyone who got an extra base hit for them last year, any chance the Cubs can kick the tires on Ramos or Kiermeier?

Kiermeier would probably be pretty pricey, but Ramos would be an upgrade at backup catcher and might not cost much more than money to get.

He also said he would delete his twitter account if Cobb didn't sign with the Brewers, so I guess he's being honest about 1 thing, at least...

I was wondering this about Kiermeier as well. Is be a free agent after 2020? Could we get him for Happ and one of our top arms? Does anyone think that is too much?

I don't think you can give Happ+ for a guy who will push us into the LT and can't stay healthy.

I don't know anything about his salary (edit: I did know he was on a team-friendly deal. It would have been more accurate to say I have no idea how his salary would affect our LT situation) or injuries, he's just a guy I've really wanted since I found out he existed last year.

I’m not a big fan. He’s only stayed healthy once and is expensive in LT regards. If the defensive metrics don’t go crazy I wouldn’t be surprised if Almora/Happ platoon out WARs him this year.

Ok fine, Zobrist and Underwood for Kiermaier. Final offer.

His shoulder is probably shot but this was a guy I really wanted the Cubs to take a chance on this offseason in the hopes he could turn into a meaningful reliever. Pretty exciting, even though I feel like West Side Rooter/Little Lord Fontenot for wanting to sign a flyer.

that 2011 first round is crazy. Every pitcher is either a disappointment, never panned out, a reliever or literally dead.

Meanwhile you have like george spring going 11, or Lindor going 8th.

He has stayed healthy enough to post bWARs of 7.3, 5.5, and 5.1 the last three years. If he actually can stay healthy for a full season he is a 7 win player. That is a no-brainer for a guy locked up through 2023, and ~ $10 M per is not expensive in LT regards.

Happ and Almora would have to take huge steps forward to out value Kiermaier.

And that’s why you don’t draft pitcher high in the first round
