Steve Buffery of the Toronto Sun reports that while Stroman was initially cool, calm, and collected when speaking to the media after the game, he eventually snapped. Stroman was asked by a reporter about breaking into professional baseball with short-season Single-A Vancouver in 2012. Stroman yelled at the reporter, noting that his team had just lost to the Red Sox, and called his team “f– terrible.” Keegan Matheson’s account of the situation lines up with Buffery’s as well.

I wonder if the Cubs can dump Chatwood on someone like the Angels, A’s, Twins, Phillies, or Rockies?

Why would anyone take him off our hands?

I've heard he has a promising spin rate.

Exactly! With the right coaching and org he might develop into and fulfill his potential.

And that's worth taking on THAT contract? Because with Bryce coming up and everything else, we're definitely not paying his deal to make him go away. We'd work on him all winter and hope for the best again next year.

None of those teams have access to MLB.tv obviously. I hate chatwood as much as anyone and in the heat of watching him suck ass on the mound I'll declare for him to be DFA'ed but he's not going anywhere.

Yeah, his spin rate makes the ball miss the strike zone far too often.

CubinNY wrote:I don’t think Happ/Almora gets it done.

i think Happ has to be viewed similarly to a top-10 hitting prospect, at the very least

he's not yet 24 but totaled roughly a full-season worth of AB, and with that has 100 R, 35 HR, 94 RBI, 12 SB & .255/.350/.490 (3.3 WAR) as a switch-hitter and is average or better at 4-5 positions he's played

who in the minors honestly profiles better than an established ~850 OPS middle of the diamond defender? yeah i'll take Soto, Acuna, Baby Vlad, but are you really going to bet on Bo Bichette/Eloy/Adames to blow that out of the water? Happ's a headliner probably on par with what any other team will reasonably offer imo

edit: lol n/m somebody made this exact point i see now

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

God bless Jim Bowden.

About deGrom:
The Brewers could offer a package led by their top pitching prospect, Corbin Burnes, or a major-league-ready starter like Junior Guerra

Classic Stearns move, driving the price of a free agent up so another team overpays. Such a brilliant boy.

Apparently the Cubs are in on Jeurys Familia. I wonder if a Wheeler+Familia package is feasible without touching the MLB squad.

Hopefully we want nothing to do with that piece of horsefeathers, and it's just for leverage on others.

I wonder if Morrow's arm actually fell off instead of just bicep tendinitis.

It's his 3rd DL stint this year, going after a proven closer(just not this bastard) makes total sense for us.
