The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

Obviously, we have to see what’s going back. But in the words of C. Montgomery Burns, “I know what I hate, and I don’t hate this.”

Extremely Meh

If we were going to grab someone so pedestrian. I would have preferred someone who really excels in one particular area. Now that Kintzler's groundball rate has evaporated, he's just thoroughly mediocre at everything.

This is interesting. I don't love relievers that don't strike out a lot of guys and don't have elite GB rates, but his K and BB rates have ticked in the right direction as of late (LD rate, too, but not sure that's stable in this short a span) -- not sure if he's made changes or if this is him getting healthy after his DL stint for the forearm.

He's also got a $10m team option and $5m player option for next year and I know we've been linked to him in the past.

During a "Not For Women Only" panel discussion, former Cubs pitcher Mike Bielecki asked several players to invent a baseball catch phrase for Viagra. Theriot's ad campaign: "Viagra -- I always play hard."

This is a perfectly fine depth move provided it costs almost nothing. He'll be like our 5th-best reliever.

Meh. He'd do well with the grounders and soft contact with our defense. But still really meh. Do better.

There were reports linking us (and the VBs) to Matt Harvey a couple hours ago.

Kintzler has a $10 million team option next year and if it’s declined can exercise a $5 million player option, fwiw.

We need to find out if he's friends with Bryce.
