I liked him a lot as a trade target this offseason, he’s been awful in 7 AAA innings this year (never pitched in MLB for the Phillies). He’d be a worthwhile add, imo. He’s cheap and has options and has been good the last few years.

The Phillies are getting Jay Bruce for basically nothing other than covering most of his salary.

For someone who's been an All-Star three times and has 300 career homers, Bruce is a fairly forgettable/meh player.

The Athletics have selected the contract of right-hander Brian Schlitter from Triple-A Las Vegas, the team announced. He’ll take the 25-man spot of closer Blake Treinen, whom the A’s placed on the injured list Saturday, and give the club a full 40-man roster.
