He's a pitcher. It's 50/50 that his early 30s will be spent with his arm attached to his body.

Yes, that's part of why he's getting money comparable to a post-prime outfielder instead of the 28 year old who has a 3 year ERA identical to Chris Sale, who as luck would have it also just signed, but for twice as much AAV.

Only thing better than that would be having him on a series of one-year optional commitments

I don't know if you're being intentionally daft, or if one of your multiple personalities thinks he's an owner so horsefeathers the players, but you pay Kyle a little bit more than you absolutely have to because you paid him peanuts while he averaged 3.3 WAR during your team's most important 4 year stretch in a century.

A toast to Darrel Sink - a lifelong Cubs fan. You'll be missed.

There is a 3 year old thread here titled, "Kyle Hendricks: Somehow Greg Maddux" and then we signed him to an extension in 2019 that pays him 1997 Greg Maddux money and people will still find ways to criticize it.

I just can't believe Hendricks didn't get much more than Tyler horsefeathering Chatwood.

Not saying it will happen, but the Cubs coming back from a 3-1 deficit to win the World Series does seem like the appropriate way to cap off this season and make the 30-for-30 even better.

This is where I play the Derwood card and say that ive seen other people saying it on twitter and facebook? Cause I havent, and you're right, but that doesn't change the fact that I just really wanted to point out that Somehow Greg Maddux is somehow making Greg Maddux money, which I think is fun.
