Yeah I'm not not interested in Cody Reed, giant lefty who at least used to throw pretty hard with a slider and a changeup

about Strop going to Chicago, i'm guessing

a) the Cubs want their Dr.'s to look at him, or
b) he may still own a place here and he's going there

I'm honestly surprised we haven't given Carraway a shot since we're struggling to find a competent lefty.

Mostly because I'm a naive numbnut, but I don't think they're done making call-ups and post-deadline might open some floodgates. Carraway, Davis, Abbott, and Mekkes are some guys I think we still have a serious shot at seeing

Yeah Mooney said they basically don't view Carraway or Marquez as viable options this year

I'm going to assume you just posted this to the wrong thread, but you thinking they made him go hang out in South Bend until he was healthy is pretty funny.

Yeah I like Sadler more than Winkler, odd move. Also I think there’s an open 28 man spot now? So Adbert coming up maybe? Osich comes in for Chatwood, KB for Perez, Martinez for Phegley and Maybin for Almora. Sadler didn’t need to go to clear room.

Edit forget this. Souza takes Sadler’s spot.

I thought Sadler was flashing early but it seems like he was coming apart his past few outings and hitters weren't even fooled by an already mediocre looking fastball. I remember thinking the Cardinals weren't even a little fooled by him, fastball was meat. As a soft tossing RHRP without any real standout skill, it's probably better they get out early rather than later

Winkler's getting hitters to hit the ball on the ground, the league has something nuts like as 24 wRC+ on groundballs. IIRC the Cubs got him specifically because they liked his sinker and cutter too so maybe the GB rates aren't crazy flukish

Kinda surprised by Sadler but he hadn't pitched well recently. I liked getting him in the offseason. Oh well. Maybe he'll sneak through and can hang out in South Bend.

The Cubs have claimed infielder Ildemaro Vargas off waivers from the Twins, the team announced. In another move, the Cubs also announced that right-hander Jharel Cotton has been released.

Billy Hamilton should try to bunt for a hit at least once a game (that he starts).
