So he got more than he’d have been paid if he wasn’t non-tendered. Good job reading the market, Jed.

I was surprised that he got that much.

I don’t care enough about Schwarber or the Cubs to really give a horsefeathers either way.

The play sliding and then gunning the runner at second is one of may favorite Cubs defensive plays ever.

They just didn't want to pay him. Wouldn't just about every player his age (who'd essentially been an everyday player) get more on the open market? I hadn't given it much thought but I'm a little surprised it was as much as it was but good for him.

Shots fired!!!
“He goes, ‘Whenever I get a manager’s job, you are going to come over, and you are going to play for me,’” Schwarber recounted. “And now it’s come to fruition.”
“Davey was a huge influence on me in baseball,” Schwarber said, noting that Martinez helped him make the transition from catcher to outfielder in Chicago.
“I love him. I’m so excited to be playing for this guy. I know he’s a baseball guy. He cares about his players,” Schwarber said. “He loves winning. He only wants to win.”

I don't see those as shots fired at all. Schwarber is all class, he's not going to take shots at the Cubs.
