George Offman on a WBBM 780 sports update said the Cub's may be interested in bringing back Matt Murton. Just a one-sentence "story" indicating the possibility. There is no link to corroborate this.

Fits the Epstein/Hoyer mold. But where to put him?

Id definitely take him as a 4th outfielder if we trade Byrd or Soriano. He could be a spare righty to spell DeJesus or Jackson vs. the tougher lefties.

I think Matt Murton might actually be a fine option for a cheap starter. If you could move Soriano for any savings at all, you could replace his production with Murton for a bargain price.

Yeah, I'd be fine with Matt, just hope we could find some at bats for him.

He might lead the 2012 Cubs in HRs.

Theo/Hoyer's master plan is to sign all the 4th OFs in the league and then sell them off at the trade deadline.
